SPArKy_Dave 8,894 Posted December 24, 2015 Ideally, I would think you'd want the static height, so the UCA on a slight upwards angle - so the angle increases with spring compression. And a static height, with the LCA as close to straight as possible. That's how my XG ute is set up. Unfortunately, at those parameters, ball-joints really need to be wedged as the angle is too severe, and there's no factory suspension travel left. There are wedge blocks (or wedge nuts) included with the different upper ball joint wedge kits, available out of the USA. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mustang-Shelby-Falcon-Upper-Control-Arm-Ball-Joint-Wedge-Kit-1964-1965-1966-/221956009088?hash=item33ad9bec80:g:XDYAAOSwsB9WBhPX&vxp=mtr http://opentrackerracing.com/product-category/shop-by-year/1967-mustang/ Open Tracker parts in Australia - http://www.cfcomponents.com.au/lca.html
matt_lamb_160 252 Posted December 24, 2015 My lower arm is pointing upwards. It looks pretty level until you put a tape on it. If the car was 40mm higher and had the Shelby drop, it'd be pretty good (but 40mm too high, haha). Mind you the measurements were bad and there is a bit of guess work in picking the centre of the ball joint.

matt_lamb_160 252 Posted December 24, 2015 Man, those LCA are ugly. The ones he ended up with (http://www.cfcomponents.com.au/lca.html) look good though (a dust cover for the spherical would be nice, but it is in a long way). Be nice what to know what "slightly longer" is with respect to the uprights, but it sounds like less of a drop is needed when compared to the stangs
78xcgxl 241 Posted December 24, 2015 Alrighty then, here we go. wheel clearance. Looks more than it is due to temporary wheel/tyre combo Normal wheels but less informative angle My, uh, bumpstop "clearance". Ride? quite good. Has been like this over 2 years now and balljoints are still tight. Man seriously you need to put the bump stop plate back on, it is there for a reason. Look at the angle of the ball joint, ready to snap and is a ticking time bomb.

Valvebouncer 2,389 Posted August 12, 2016 Ok so I'm guess the gap between my uca and bump stop is about 5 hours, I can only assume the bump stops are still with the previous owner! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 SirkWhyXF reacted to this

SPArKy_Dave 8,894 Posted August 15, 2016 King springs plus shocks n saddles We need a pic of the same thing, ^^^ with the weight of the car on the suspension. (ie, with the car sitting on the ground as below) See Valvebouncers pics up above. 1 stockesp reacted to this

SPArKy_Dave 8,894 Posted August 15, 2016 Before I fixed the problem that is..... Short answer - YES, you need clearance, or it will ride beyond horribly. 1 Valvebouncer reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,343 Posted August 15, 2016 thats why i kept telling myself this is shit ride,so i should put the super pro ones ? or cut the o.g. ones 1 SPArKy_Dave reacted to this
SPArKy_Dave 8,894 Posted August 15, 2016 Either/or. Depends if you feel like taking the bumpstop plates out to change the bump stops... or not. 1 CHESTNUTXE reacted to this
Valvebouncer 2,389 Posted August 15, 2016 thats why i kept telling myself this is shit ride,so i should put the super pro ones ? or cut the o.g. ones I'd do a little experiment first. Measure the height of the guard as is, then remove the bump stop altogether and remeasure. If it's a significant drop you may need to change the springs as you will still have stuff all travel with shorter bump stops. CHESTNUTXE 7,343 Posted August 15, 2016 well atm there is no travel so ? how much inbetween the bumpstop and arm 1 cm 2cm ?
Valvebouncer 2,389 Posted August 15, 2016 Depends on your spring rate but I'd want more, like 3-4cm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 CHESTNUTXE reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,343 Posted August 15, 2016 ok i will make this a job for tomorrow, first measure then drop without the bumpstop and measure again, then correct, cheers. 2 Valvebouncer and SPArKy_Dave reacted to this
