Lott got a reaction from Thom in Comp cams
Thom, I did the cam run in today, then had a quick blast up the street. Now draining the oil and getting ready to start putting inner spring in.
It's not going to get mistaken for a stocky anymore!
Sounds real tough. It will be interesting to see how it goes on the dyno, and then to the drag strip.

Lott reacted to Stu5766 in Comp cams
I have a similar setup.
30 thou over with 2v closed chamber heads, XE274 cam, air gap manifold with 750dp.
I had a C4 with 3000 stally & 3.45 rear end.
Also had a 2.5 inch exhaust with try y's.
It moved along nicely.
I am currently making some changes which include match porting, blending the bowls & cleaning up around the guides. 4 into 1 extractors, twin 2.25 exhaust, top loader, 3.9 diff gears & a HP centre for my holly.
Will be interested to see what it does.

Lott reacted to mmzh351 in Front spindle / knuckles
So I got the new spindles and thought I would take a few pictures and measurements before I put it back together.
ZH spindle on the left, later model XD/XF on the right.
So the later model spindle is about 10mm taller between the ball joints and the steering arm is shorter and more in board.
See below for overall height, old one first, newer one second.
So what does this all mean?
Increased distance between the balls joints should improve the camber curve, as it will have a similar effect to dropping the upper control arm pivot point, aka the "Shelby" mod.
Shorter steering arm should speed up the steering rate. Having the pick up point more in board will increase the amount of Ackerman in steering geometry, which is in line with the requirements of a more modern radial tyre.
Happy days.

Lott reacted to Trev Vaa in Clevo sump removal in-chassis
yep. easy as piss, just back off the engine mounts a bit so you can lift the motor a touch, i've done it without doing that, but its much harder.
oil pump just get a good brand standard volume, and you'll probably find your pickup is blocked a bit too.

Lott got a reaction from ROBO332 in Exhaust Shops in VIC
The exhaust on the xd was done at sharp in sunbury. Sound good, looks good, good price give Ben a call, and see what he can do for you.
