Yep, agreed. Make sure oil cap and dipstick are tight. Spray a small amount of Aerostart around inlet manifold, where it meets the head. Not too much.!!
Revs will rise if it gets sucked in.

Jkmacxf got a reaction from deankxf in Xf miss fire running rough
Original leads fried. Turns out I was sold the wrong set of leads. Shop reordered NGK leads fitted and runs perfectly. Can’t even remember brand supplied but they look like cheap crap. Xf Fairmont Ghia now the daily drive.

Replace the hall effect sensor inside the distributor...
A faulty CTS won't help things, but shouldn't stop it from starting.

Jkmacxf got a reaction from SPArKy_Dave in XF rear disc calipers
Update. Sourced another caliper and kitting it as we speak. Will throw up some pics of the old one when it gets back.

All good the seat mechanism that rocks the whole seat back was beyond repair. Nothing a little spot weld could not fix

Why is the housing getting honed out its only there really to hold the seal in place, the piston is what u need to be looking at to see it has any marks

good to hear you have tried, the calipers will also be on 1987 XFs also i am fairly sure all 1987 got rear discs(well, every car i got/wrecked had them..) (i don't have any parts anymore)

Hi sparky Dave the cylinder is pitted and can’t be honed out without taking too much material.

i think you'd get an XE /XF , ZK ZL fairlane, FD/FE LTD caliper if looking harder..
i think if you found an EA diff, the brakes and axels would bolt on(25 spline) but if you wanted brakes off EB to fit you may need to change wheel bearings for backing plate swap?
i think if i was giving up on XF brakes, i'd just fit an E series diff (EA to ED diff) bit of mucking around, if interested we can explain it but have a search in the forums first for a how to

is it a ute? the late utes often have E series seat mountings, but i think 1988 was the first model for that
but a sedan/wagon i'd say the nuts to undo the seat rails would be under the car
you may find the later seats can be bolted to the XF seat rails without too much modification? but i haven't seen one for so long i can't remember if they are even close

or take the rails off and buy some autobarn sports seats quite easy to fit just drill a few new holes in the rail and straight in.

If it's late xf ea/b/d seats will bolt in. Early xf nothing just bolts in.

Jkmacxf got a reaction from Outback Jack in Xf dash lights
All good oz falconers replaced the negative battery post clamp & a new earth lead to the block because it was all corroded up the middle. Trip computer and everything started working again.
