XF Fairmont with rough idle and missfires under acceleration. Is there anyway to test the ignition module on the distributor? Timing has been set as per mr polsens ford service bulletin (thanks for that).

Original leads fried. Turns out I was sold the wrong set of leads. Shop reordered NGK leads fitted and runs perfectly. Can’t even remember brand supplied but they look like cheap crap. Xf Fairmont Ghia now the daily drive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tested coolant temp sensor for ecu no reading at 20 deg supposed to be 2300 - 2700 ohms. Tested at 100deg supposed to be 170 - 210 is is showing around 6500. Oops. I have heard these will stop the engine. As it is now dead and won’t start. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Update Won’t start at all. threw a set of plugs and leads at it for cause they’re old. Tried new coil. Replaced module. Nothing. Will fire the die. Like it is being choked. Found one muffler rooted possibly blocking the exhaust. Dropping the exhaust off the car at the cat to see if it will start.

Sweet. Leads are in correct order. Sometimes it runs fine the breaks down. Noted the engine died when running and I removed the oil cap. I think the new module may fix it. I will post an update to what the fix is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks bear351c. Is there a vacuum advance on the injected or is it controlled through the ecu. Air filter clean , new fuel filter and a tank full of 98. Coil tested within specs. Just a process of elimination. Ignition module getting replaced tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi ozfalconners does anyone know if any other seats or from e, a or b series will bolt straight into the xf.
-
Update. Sourced another caliper and kitting it as we speak. Will throw up some pics of the old one when it gets back.

Hey guys just trying to pick the brains of fellow oz falcon enthusiasts as to whether or not the XF falcon rear calipers can be replaced with a later series. IE "E" series as I need to replace on caliper to complete the VIC roady and it is unable to be rebuilt. They are getting harder to find these days.

All good the seat mechanism that rocks the whole seat back was beyond repair. Nothing a little spot weld could not fix

Being a rear it maybe the handbrake cam as it was seized. And damaged the housing. I am getting second hand info at the minute

Hi sparky Dave the cylinder is pitted and can’t be honed out without taking too much material. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

All good oz falconers replaced the negative battery post clamp & a new earth lead to the block because it was all corroded up the middle. Trip computer and everything started working again.

G'day ozfalconers, xf fairmont ghia indicator lights come on in the dash with headlamps on. Has anyone else had or heard of this drama. Bad earth maybe? Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Thanks, for that Mr Polson the negative terminal had a cover on it, I removed it & there is corrosion everywhere. In the process of replacing terminals & tidying the wiring up. Hopefully should fix it. Cheers
