Good stuff. You'll love it...just the induction noise alone is worth it.

correct. The earlier Cartier's still had the hand pull boot popper but the last of the Cartier's got an electric one as I guess they were preparing to start the FD. It was a dipping the toe in the pool I guess you could call it. Some FCs still had the electric sunroof but it was a ‘no cost option’ from memory.

Sadly not all. Some were 302 and even there were a few 6s but they are rarest of all as 358(ish) from memory were 351. The only things with Cartier’s that you could not option was the colours and the interiors. You had a choice of 2 colours, a port wine burgundy or a special gold blend, and the interior you only had 1 choice. But with the purchase, you received all the special badging and special embroidery, and you also, wait for it, as a ‘gift’, received a purse, an umbrella, and a limited edition Cartier Watch. You could also ‘add’ to the options of a briefcase, perfume, socks and a tie.
On the topic though, have you got any photos of the whole car? Is the whole car for sale or just the motor?

pull a spark plug out of it, get a bit of wire or a cable tie put it in the spark plug hole wind the engine over so the piston is at the top of its stroke, mark your bit of wire/cable tie with a texta then wind the engine over until the piston is at the bottom of its stroke and mark your piece of the wire/cable tie again then measure the distance between the two marks 3 inches means it's a 302, 3.5 inches means it's a 351

I'd prefer to keep them polished Bear👍. I have already stripped them with paint stripper Dean 2 pressure pack cans & 1 & a half tins later haha, they were off a cartier so still had the champagne paint in the slots which was a prick to get off. They painted them up really well from the factory thats forsure. Ive got some sandpaper 320 up to 2000 so will give that a go on the worst of the 5 wheels & see how i got then polish them with a polishing ball attachment & by hand. I think it will be too expensive to get professionally & i dont mind putting in a bit of effort myself.

Oh no the one in there now is the original type, the Laser ones are way too small in diameter which makes sense now seeing as the laser & LTD wheel have the same design but the laser wheel is 13" & has a smaller bore & only 4 holes for the wheel nuts.

Wheels arrived yesterday & unfortunately the laser centrecaps are way too small so a little money wasted but oh well, i took a gamble & it didnt pay off so im on the look out for 3 more FC centrecaps cos the set came with 1

Gave em a good clean, cut & polish.
They aren't perfect but maybe tomorrow I'll paint strip them then polish again & see what happens but they are definitely better than what they were when i got them earlier.

Dunno yet Dean, wheels still havent arrived yet haha hopefully this week. Im gonna go out on a limb & say yes they do. They have these thin alloy discs with ford logo glued on em from factory so im gonna take them off cos the LTD dont roll like that then prepwash em clean em up & polish them. I tried uploading a pic on tapatalk before but it just wouldnt upload.

old similar era Ford Laser had similar wheels.. might be possible they take the same cap
pity, i was just at Pick a part yesterday and there was a 1980 Laser GHIA there that might have had those wheels
see if you can get a measurement on them and i'll see if i can get down there in the next day or so
not sure if they were still on it

Any machine shops near you.? Looks easy enough to spin up in a lathe.
Could try Canterbury Mag centre, or look for some off something else, maybe a Transit, or a Courier.??

Free.51 got a reaction from deankxf in Power Steering hose help needed
Cheers Dean haha, i got really good at installing & removing the pipe/pipes over the last couple of weeks the only annoying part was the nut not screwing in as i wanted it to but its in now & I'll remember this for next time👍😊. Also i should mention for anyone else who does this that its a good idea to remove the wires & + cable off the starter (& + off battery), cos they get in the way & can get squashed & wires can get forced out of their clips whilst forcing the hardline over the tie rod ends/steering arms.

Update took the pipie back to Luke & swapped it for one that went the route that i wanted & managed to only just yesterday get the fitting screwed into the steering box & i used Dean's trick with the ring end of the spanner & kind of manipulated the pipe to the correct angle so that i was able to screw the fitting in & im happy to say that eveything is all in place all tight & there are no leaks woohoooo😁. Thanks for everbody's help much appreciated 👍👍.
