CHESTNUTXE 7,343 Posted April 10, 2016 The compressor i have was working ok in the 4.1L crossy i took out ,but im trying to keep the look of the new clevo as factory as possible,so today i cleaned it up and found its stamped 02/82 so its the original york type,on the crossy it sits upsidedown and on the clevo the oposite,so i just flipped it over and every thing looks like it will bolt straight on,i have the correct pulleys and tensioners, the big boxy york type commpressors are not popular with performance looks, but are great for the factory look or for a numbers ghia or whatever to put on,there seems to be 3 different pulley types ,the one i have is a 2 row for a crossy ,i have also seen a 1 row on a genuine xe esp,and the more common 1 row with the huge alloy backing on it,see pictures,if anyone has an old v8 type pulley ,please can i buy it to put on mine as the factory v8,s had em,also its dam hard to find the belt tensioners that work cause most of em are stuffed, and no one does re-po ones unless you want to change the bearings on them which is a fookin time labour job. FOMOCOHO 882 Posted April 16, 2016 York compressors don't like sitting unused for long periods of time. Leaking at the head gasket seal is common as it dries out. Â Good luck with it though... there may be better sealing kits for them now.
CHESTNUTXE 7,343 Posted April 16, 2016 Mine is good,it was working fine,I will need some new hoses tho

CHESTNUTXE 7,343 Posted October 20, 2016 i have looked at shimming the compressor bracket that's the easy part, but if you do that the other tensioner's will be to close to the waterpump pulley, once they are also brought forward to line up,please does someone have a v8 pulley. SPArKy_Dave 8,894 Posted November 20, 2016 Did I read that you're using the 6cyl compressor on the Clevo? Remember that the compressor Suction and Discharge ports can be opposite on the V8's, compared to the 6cyl's.  I have an account at Cooldrive Distribution (aircon wholesaler) In the catalogue, there are two separate listings.  XA-XE 6cyl - CM1924 - RH Suction port XD-XE V8 - CM1237 - LH Suction port  Interestingly though, the catalogue lists CM1924 as suitable for ZH/ZK and FD LTD V8's, but also states RH Suction.  In the Adrad Catalogue I have, the part numbers are as follows -  PYOR014 (ref CM1924) York Compressor 169cc capacity PYOR004 (ref CM1237) York Compressor 169cc capacity 1 stockesp reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,343 Posted November 20, 2016 the lines went in the same way as a v8,just with the 6 they snake around the crossy ,with the v8 they are shorter on the passenger side, but hold the phone i will check what you are saying dave, but it could be like a c4 cooler lines where it doesnt matter which way they bolt up as long as it is circulating. 1 SPArKy_Dave reacted to this
SPArKy_Dave 8,894 Posted November 21, 2016 Compressors have a vacuum (suction) port, and a pressure (discharge) port. The hoses definitely need to be around the right way.
