    that's how it will be with that seal missing from My experience. you can see the clips along the edge in this pic i had the same issue when i fitted a New aftermarket one that didn't have the seals.. i left it like that, because i didn't get around to fitting the seals i threw out with the old tail gate

    don't do that with an evaporative cooling system.. the bloke that installed My parents one said the water would be poison.. the air is cleaned of all the pollution in the process and gets dumped ever few hours apparently.

    what gearbox did you use? you'd need the V8 gear on the 6cyl speedo drive in most cases

    possibly didn't connect or have a bad earth connection the wiring is same for V8 and 6cyl other than a couple(air con wire slightly longer, choke wire from alternator on 6cyl)

    that black relay has a wire intercepting it, was it on LPG? might be switched for LPG. did you delete any wiring?

    the only thing i can think of is the green and other relay near the brake booster,(green is fuel pump, other is injectors i thought? could be wrong) haven't broken an earth wire or left a plug loose?

    if it has compression and spark and fuel it should run.. won't need rebuilding unless compression is down or its' rattling or worn out. if it doesn't run now due to a fuel or electrical issue, a fully rebuilt engine still wont run. with reco head, ign, bored and new pistons, reground crank, new rings and bearings,cam and lifter, dissy gear, belts, thermostat, heater tap, spark plugs, leads, cap and rotor button, radiator cap, new water pump, welsh plugs, paint, oil, filters, coolant, hoses,fuel pump, and fuel line, cables(if accel cable looks worn you'd change it, ratiator clean or replace, . you can easily be WELL above $3000. . i'd start with diagnosing it's issue first. it may be a $300 repair that needs doing regardless of if the engine needs rebuilding see post above.. depends what you want to do..

    needs a custom Rod the metal craft magician to weld in some special spare wheel tub recess ( copy an XF maybe?)

    had a few more years left.. should be signs of metal on metal wear somewhere? i've had a few like this due to oil leaks(rubbers do not like oil or grease... )

    people are wanting them, not sure if panko runs one but MrPolson refitted one back to his wagon. if i had a mint ZL or Ghia (or LTD) i'd be considering re fitting one. as for desire/value.. not sure. probably worth more than a second hand pioneer usb head unit though

    they also make a thing called vinyl paint, it works surprisingly well.. i believe the factory wheels are painted in something also

    i'm sure i've seen a boss kit with no spacer used... it's probably on BGDAV? i've had one also. on XF and XE.

    hmm. my memory must be faded.. i thought they didn't have a spacer(maybe i'm thinking earlier ghia) yeah I'm certain if it was on an XF ghia or ZL or FE ltd, it wil fit an XF anything, even with non tilt.(they had same wheel with or without tilt as GL etc)

    the ghia wheel doesn't use that spacer.. it's got Me stuffed why the boss kits didn't just say, FOR GHIA(no spacer) and falcon use this kit so you don't have shit spacer thing. the ghia wheel is direct fit. (ZL fairlane same) the tilt column was on fairlane and ghia also.
