    Class only at north qld cairns to rockhampton. Its a lot more varied 4 and 6s are unrestricted can go to town on em if you want. 8s are limeted to NA single 4 barrel and 360 cubes easy enough to get 600hp out of em these days though.

    Raced in cairns last night with methanol carby. Car went well never laid a spanner on it all night, handled the rough stuff beautifully. Only had to tip 60 liters of methanol in her. Oh And screw my gearstick back in.
     
    Only issue was the cam was over and done 500rpm too early. I think if I retard it a coupla clicks it will go well.
     
    Now if I can get me arse off the couch I got some extras to bolt on for next meeting

    Hey ando still kicking not alot has been happenin spent a week n a half on fraser island, back at work for a week an just came back from another campin trip on the herbert river. I go back to WA for work tomora and return the following friday so I will hook back into it then.
     
    Back on topic engine needs to be stripped down, washed ready for assembly. Just gonna give it some new rings n bearings after 10 years of on and off service the main bearings were still good but rods showed a little wear and the rings have opened up 8 thou and had a 20% variance in cylinder pressure. Piston skirts still look good.

    New cam lifters n springs are here was just going to use the original hydraulic cam but some of the lobes and lifters started pitting and showing wear marks. The 106 lobe separation isnt ideal for turbo stuff either. so a new solid camtech cam on 113 lobes with rpm range of 3 - 6k rpm should give a nice broad hit.
     
    I have half the wiring loom made just need to finish the box off fit some gauges etc.

    Still trying to chase down an alloy valve cover if anyone knows where on is in the cairns area.

    I am using stock fuel rail but have cut off welded up the two pin holes they use for intake and return and welded 2 -8 fittings on either end. Car has -8 supply and return lines to a 90 liter fuel cell. I based the calculations around 600 hp bosh 044 are reportedly rated for flow at 300lph @43psi... I need 600lph soo..
     
    I have brought new proflow checkvalves -8 to go onto the ends then two -8 into a -8 fuel line.
     
    I have only found meth to be corrosive if left to sit and it absorbs moisture. I normally flush the fuel system and carb after every meet. Cool thing with efi though I can flick a switch and voila it changes fuel table and should run on petrol.

    Always wanted to play wilth boost and efi so I thought id do me a little project and build me a turbo 6 for me speedway car. Hopefully I get the bearings and cam etc over the next few weeks and get her all together and turn some laps.
     
    The lowdown of it is so far is 10.7:1 compression .020 grouted block acl race series pistons, 3.9 rods, camtech solid 243/243 .560 on 113 gt3540 ebay cheapy I got ages ago will prob track down an fg turbo once everything is up and going. 160lb injectors being fed by 2 x bosch 044 pumps fed by aeromotive ss pump who fills the surge tank. Ice 7amp doing ignition duties and a megasquirt 3 doing all the thinking. No intercooler as I will have a nos spray nozzle squirting methanol in the intake plumbed by solenoid just adjust the pill size to get temps down.
     
    this is how its sitting at the moment
     
    Has anyone here played with the megasquirt and have any pointers or a base map I could use to get her started obviouly after adjusting that for meth fuel.
     
    Out of me comfort zone here so any input would be appreciated.
     
    Edit: target boost I was thinking 10 to 15psi

    Their push lock hose has stood up well to the meth and e85 I run but has gone a bit hard now but that is norm for meth.

    Top goes back to tank and middle is return from reg. See how it goes gotta find room to mount the mongrel now
     
    Intake pipes are done need to tidy things up a bit but you get the idea. Wastegate is on also.

    Had a little squiz of the tune side of things an holy shit. Cool stuff but is there really a need for a 16x16 timing table?!? just lock the bastard at 30. To be honest Mixalis i think someone could run this setup on E85 no problems and the only thing i would do different if it was on e85 is remove one of them bosch 044's. I will probably target air fuel and timing like the two tables below. Way out of my ball park so if youse have any input id love to hear it

    As for the extra spray nozzle, i think i will run it to be on the safe side. The issue i see is that with the injectors at the port right shooting right at the valve it does not have much time at 5 to 6k rpm to remove latent heat from the air and there is no way of measuring temperature of air past there. The only way i will know that it is too hot is when a hole magically appears in the middle of the piston. To simplify the system i will just run a tee off my fuel pressure guage hose which is a -4 to a fuel solenoid (nos) to the nozzle which has jets in it. Will Prob start with a .035 jet and just keep an eye on logs and see how they go and up the jets as needed. Water would prob remove more heat in the chamber but then i'd need another tank ect etc these god damn fittings are costing enough as it is. If it was a carbd system or a Mechanical Fuel injected or had staged fuel injectors further away from the cylinder then no it would not be needed but being so close to the cylinder it will be a bit of a gamble i think. To simplify think i will have it turn on above 3500 rpm.
     
    To my Knowlege...Methanol is very resistant to detonation BUT very prone to Preignition two totally different things. An engine that has failed due to detonation usually has cracked pistons, burnt pistons at the edge near the bore and maybe hammered bearings. Engine failure due to preignition will almost always be a hole in the middle of the piston. Usually comes from sparkplug glowing red igniting the fuel. Pre-ignition can lead to detonation though. If i can keep the chamber temps down it should live. Maybe.
