Thanks mate, trying my best to get the car to a great body with as little “bog + fillers” as I’ve seen afew x series where they have a great paint job but you can see where they have rust few years down the track.

Today’s progress was great. There is afew photos of went on today. Quiet happy with the outcome. Had 2 great guys come out and cut weld up my rust sections. Boot seal, mudflap, corner 1\4 as they found abit on the end also. They went the extra mile when repairing the inner guard then rust converting it to 110% make sure no rust comes back! To me the job looks well don’t and they did there best so the painter wouldn’t have to use as much filler when time for paint! Next step to try and get my painter to come out and inspect,or if falls through search for a new painter. Slowly getting there day by day.

Just a tip, use as little of the rust repair panel as you can. The more of the patch you use, the harder it is to get lined up. They are reproduction panels, not New Old Stock (NOS).

Hi all today picked up the rust repair pieces from Resto Country Spares in Moorabbin. Have got the boot channel (full length) also the rear lower quarter. Hopefully tomorrow they (should) be welded in depending if my rust guy can come out. He’s just having trouble coming down as he can’t fit his welder in his car, but he’s a good bloke and seen some of his work aswell.

if you've got a few hours to skip through this series, Peter Anderson (has lots of videos on car resto) has just gone through probably everything you are thinking of with a sigma.
part 1 below, he's upto part 7 and the thing is almost a bare shell now.

door glass, not sure if it's in the gregorys book, but you can remove door glass (the big ones) out in 5 mins each if the door trims are off.
the 1/4 windows can be pretty hard to remove in the rear doors, not that hard. but depends on who's doing the job

i prefer lows because the car still drives fine (not much bump steer, and has suspension travel still)

Today was a productive day! Stripped more of the engine bay out, airconditioning, power steering and cleaned as much of the wiring up. Nearly ready for paint and as soon as it goes there the fun begins on the motor as I’ll have the space in my single garage to lay everything on a clean work bench... you gotta day the xfs are like 4wd without the engines in them 😂 hopefully by next week I’ll have the list of parts I need for the rebuild and off I go to order them in one hit!

All good, it’s for a slight lope to it; doesn’t really have that rough sound to it, entry level chop if we can call it that hahaha. Considering what others are saying regarding the limits on the stock ecu, I don’t think you’ll be getting too much lope either on idle unfortunately...

Hahaha that’s mad chuck us some photos if you like! The dizzy gear you need for aftermarket cams in crossflow is the Crow DG2.
I’m running a Crow 14892 which is 214@0.05” and .510” lift on a 112 lobe
You in Sydney area by any chance ?

PapouGhia got a reaction from Outback Jack in Xf Efi problems
Update for all you.
Rocker went back on with all lifter rockers and pushrods torqued all installed,
i picked up a silver xf efi complete,
Everything efi out of it and used the bits I needed to tidy up mine and have spares,
swapped the isc unit and the maf airbox over and few of the vaccine hoses,
also swapped tailshafts as mine was a huge round one on the end I’m pretty sure it’s out of el? For the one without the big dome around it hard to explain.
At the start up it wasn’t running right, with all the new stuff until about 5 minutes in when it tuned itself I reckon and it’s amazing!! No stalling no leaks, there is still a slight ticking which is fare as the live may be worn. I’m going to put thicker oil aswell.
mths car is running no tailpipe at the moment as the tailpipe I have is the stock and my extractors back is 2.5inch so it’s loud...
next.
Clean up the wiring. Am I able to connect the wires all together so I don’t have that many on the terminal? And tips on cleaning it up?
once I’m happy with it and everything is up to my standards and running as good as a daily it’ll go in for the rust in the boot seal and the bit in the rear mud guard cut out and respray, anyone recommend someone for the job, not looking for a show car finish just a going over as a neat car.
Cheers everyone who helped appreciate it and there will be more to come!
