A 10mm ratchet spanner for the lower intake bolts & a 6mm hex bit for the cap screws on the upper intake & throttle body. 10 mm socket for the bolt on the bracket to throttle body

looks good with the black rocker cover etc.. i'll have to keep that in mind if i ever mess with mine (it's got that oxidization happening since pressure washing for rwc)

All done, the engine is now idling between 600-800 rpm on the dash cluster but will probably put the multimeter on it another day & use the rpm setting to set the idle.
That number 6 lower intake bolt is a C@nt to get in in the end i had to climb on the engine from drivers side & on my hands & knees kneel on the engine & reach under the pipe with my left hand with the bolt in my thumb & index finger & get it in the hole a few turns then get the 10mm ratchet spanner on all the bolts & tighten them up. Glad that job is done now.

Got more done today, lower gasket is out & new one in, just trying to figure out how i will get number 6 lower intake bolt back in. It is a real pain in the arse just like the top starter motor bolt & the top bell housing bolts. I will tape the bolt to the socket & guide it through the hole of the bracket that holds that electrical loom block & guide it through the intake then get a couple of turns & rip the socket away from the bolt

Yeah when I bought the conversion it came with the XF knob, I have since bought a brand new AU knob from Global Trim. The AU is going really well alot more fun to drive than the auto. There is a rev hang issue which I will be getting onto as soon as the throttle body gasket arrives in the post I have the other 2 intake gaskets just waiting on the last one so hopefully next weekend I can do that & set the idle up nicely. Since the upper intake will be off I might aswell paint it black👍

Wow, missed this post somehow. when i wanted an XF gear knob about 20yrs ago from Ford Geelong, the only knob they had in stock was an AU one (which looked wrong but felt better than the XF ones)
big job by the looks, how's it going? -
managed to get it fixed for anyone who is having similar issues it was the distributor that was the issue. had it rebuilt by performance ignition services in Vic.Sent it away and it came back looking like new inside and out. put it back in and has been running fine ever since. Thanks to all those who posted sugestions

spewing i sold that car, only needed a replacement engine in the end.. had to move, and no mates were keen to take it on even for parts amazingly.
