Yeah when I bought the conversion it came with the XF knob, I have since bought a brand new AU knob from Global Trim. The AU is going really well alot more fun to drive than the auto. There is a rev hang issue which I will be getting onto as soon as the throttle body gasket arrives in the post I have the other 2 intake gaskets just waiting on the last one so hopefully next weekend I can do that & set the idle up nicely. Since the upper intake will be off I might aswell paint it black👍

Wow, missed this post somehow. when i wanted an XF gear knob about 20yrs ago from Ford Geelong, the only knob they had in stock was an AU one (which looked wrong but felt better than the XF ones)
big job by the looks, how's it going? -
managed to get it fixed for anyone who is having similar issues it was the distributor that was the issue. had it rebuilt by performance ignition services in Vic.Sent it away and it came back looking like new inside and out. put it back in and has been running fine ever since. Thanks to all those who posted sugestions

spewing i sold that car, only needed a replacement engine in the end.. had to move, and no mates were keen to take it on even for parts amazingly.

That interior looks nice, with the EB Ghia seats -
the odo gears often died in the original clusters,(also wasn't hard to swap in another or even reset the kms) you can not really trust them entirely, the best gauge for Kms is often how worn the carpet/mat, steering wheel and seat and arm rests/console lid etc. (assuming they haven't been changed also)
My XF ute had 300,000kms on it, but the interior and cluster wasn't reflecting that, because none of it was original.

Been working on my AU last couple of weekends got the auto out last Saturday & got my brother to come over & help put the Manual in Sunday. Now just need to cut down brake pedal, get tailshaft shortened & fit it, reinstall starter motor & wires, reinstall extractors & fit to exhaust, modify wiring loom, fit & adjust clutch cable (when engine starts) & get a new boot & proper AU gear knob cos the boot supplied with the conversion is shit & the gear knob i believe is from XF. Will be taking tomorrow off work to try to get most of the rest done Sent from my SM-A057F using Tapatalk

I use Penrite HPR 30 20W-60, it controls oil consumption well. I add around a 100mls of Lucas Heavy Duty oil stabiliser if it's summer time, and if I do a change in winter, I will wait till the weather warms up a bit before adding it... I have an "S"pack dash, but the one thing I wanted it for was the rev counter, and that was the only thing that didn't work! Apparently dry solder joints are common issues for these types of problems... So i put the original back in, and haven't got around to fixing it...

The original dash only had 140k on it but it ate a cam so Im thinking that has something to do with it, it was putting the light out with the original dash but the gauge is flashing when idling in gear. Im gonna do an oil change on it and chuck some 20w60 in it to see if that helps
