Not going to brand bash here just want honest opinions on Pulsar turbo's. Im looking at getting one for my XB and they are very cheap but seem to have good reviews, especially from xr6t guys. Are the worth looking at for something that will rarely see a track and do limited daily driving?

no, it won't have a spigot bearing on an auto to deal with, but you should do the welsh plug on the back of the engine while the gearbox is off. (i dont' know for sure if it's got one , but i assume so) cant help with the rear main seal, haven't done windsor ones.

Does anyone know if the 4 speed auto has a spigot shaft bearing in the back of the crank? And is it the same in the manual t5 as I am wanting to replace the rear seal and would do the bearing while there along with the auto exrension housing bush and seal. Also anyone got advice or techniques for replacing the engine rear seal while motors in the car.

In the states they had 5lts that were HO, HIGH OUTPUT HAHA and units they put in work horses like small f truck and vans etc. These non HO motors were very low powered at about 135 hp versus the HO 165KW or 210hp or so. They should have just put a LO on the low output motors as HO raises hope of our power we relate to GTHO in Australia.....if only!

I have a complete VCT engine to use including the correct ECU. I'm just wondering wether its worth playing with or should I use the 94da top end I all so have sitting in the XG in my back yard. Looking for the best bang for my buck type of thing. Both engines are currently running so they pretty much just need the bottom ends freshened up.

Vct heads need vct specific cams, unless converted to non vct, then they take a regular style au cam, el hybrid and au use a 1.8:1 ratio rockers, large base circle cam and beehive valve springs, ea-el (non hybrid) use 2:1 ratio rockers, small base circle cam and straight valve springs, the e series cam and rockers can't be used on el hybrid/au heads (and vice versa) without a lot of work, and it is usually cheaper and easier to use the cam and rocker gear to suit the head you have

that would be awesome if you can. I think something close to thom's 180rwkw's beast would be more than enough for the XB. I'm pretty sure the XG engine I have has a 91DA cam in it, but I havent had it apart to check, but I was rebuilt by HM Gem a few years ago so who knows what it could be lol, I can only assume.
