Hi guys has anyone been down the road of having the headrest ratcheting fixed? My passenger side headrest is now limp and at a quick glance it looks like a nightmare to get at.

Wow. Circuit board looks like its dated 1978.! Very first XD models. 3.3 litres of bone jarring power.

Wiring diagram hard to read in manual may not pick up photo. If you need me to confirm wire colour let me know what you need to know

6cyl XD XE will be same V8 cluster is same other than the tacho calibration (adjustable also, can be changed to either with adjusting a trim pot and calibrated correctly)
even the GL without tacho will be mostly the same (i had one where the tacho wire wasn't in the XE we had, i just added it to the plug)
you can decode nearly all of the wires if need be by following the tracks on the circuit board (will need to undo the 6 screws on the back to release it from the housing.
what car is it going into? -
the cluster loom is part of the main dash loom, is it for the car or test related purposes. The pin out should be in the manual the only issue is they arent that clear in the manual an copying them blurs even more. will check the manual and get back to you DaLE

it probably will work like new for ages now. i submerged an XG mech (same as e series) in petrol and swished it around, was absolutely caked in dusty grease. worked mint afterwards.
i'd just spray it with WD40 or similar and it's probably good for another 10+ years if it's working fine now. -
The mechanism was dirt as Fk , so took it out to clean and install new spring.after a good clean noticed the wear and will keep a eye out for a better/newer one ,Working like new at the moment ,But know that wont last.
