Mattbigred 0 Posted February 16, 2020 I've recently bought an XF wagon. Nothing special, but going over the car when I got it I noticed the front left indicator wasn't working (it was when I inspected it) I replaced the bulb and it's dull and flashing fast. I replaced the rear as well just to be sure. I have also replaced the battery terminals as the negative had a crack, earthed the lead properly to the body, cleaned up any earth I could easily reach, replaced the flasher relay and replaced the bulb housing. It's still dull and flashing fast. I'm at a loss, any ideas?
Thom 6,651 Posted February 16, 2020 Does the side marker flash as well? If there isn't enough load on a flasher can it will blink too fast, easy way to test if it's a light or the flasher is to turn the hazards on, if they blink normally it usually means you have a bulb out or a bad earth 1 user272 reacted to this
Thom 6,651 Posted February 16, 2020 Blinking too fast can also be caused by led bulbs if the flasher can isn't rated for them
Mattbigred 0 Posted February 16, 2020 No LED bulbs, all indicators all left are new as of this morning and it's still doing it
gerg 10,871 Posted February 19, 2020 Ok all of the usual culprits are sussed out, so time to go looking at connectors in the loom, then the loom itself.Sent from my CPH1903 using Tapatalk 1 Thom reacted to this
ESPSIX 143 Posted February 20, 2020 Different wattage globes can make them flash fast. 1 Thom reacted to this
bear351c 10,270 Posted February 22, 2020 Could try swapping the globes from left side to right side and see if the problem follows... My guess is poor earth/ground. 1 Thom reacted to this
SPArKy_Dave 8,881 Posted February 22, 2020 If it has a factory option trailer plug fitted, they usually have resistive bridge terminals in the cap, to allow for correct flashing, with/without trailer lights. If the cap terminals are not contacting correctly, it will make the left or right indicators flash fast. 2 gerg and Thom reacted to this
