bear351c 10,273 Posted February 23, 2015 Just wondering if there are any replacement motors for the X series window winders.?? Has anyone tried EF maybe BA or equivalent? Mine are OK, in the ZL, but a couple are a bit slow. Tried lube, graphite powder, beeswax, but still seems the motors are dragging their arse a bit. Can they be rewound? Maybe just swapping the rear to the front might help, as they have done less work over the years. Cheers Bear.
SLO247 1,713 Posted February 23, 2015 Try feeding them 12v from a battery directly and see if they are faster. Fair chance the switches aren't great either. 2 bear351c and Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to this
jca25 1,034 Posted February 23, 2015 i tried the ef/l one only 2 bolts line up on the motor and the hole for the centre pin for the drive cog needs to be drilled out as it is larger 1 bear351c reacted to this

jca25 1,034 Posted February 23, 2015 dam i just hard wired mine in the van, with no relays
bear351c 10,273 Posted February 23, 2015 Interesting. Do you install the relays in the door frame, ? I like the drawing, even i can understand it. When God handed out the electrical modules for humans, I was chatting up this hot as Angel, and must have missed out. Thats why I play with engines.. 3 jca25, Outback Jack and Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to this
BGDAV 1,873 Posted February 23, 2015 i installed my relays under the centre console, you only need to tap into the wires that go to the door, the location doesnt matter 3 Outback Jack, bear351c and Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to this
bear351c 10,273 Posted February 23, 2015 Cool. So the relay "increases" available eddie's.? 1 Outback Jack reacted to this
Jonathan Mark Davidson 169 Posted February 23, 2015 yes and can mount them anywhere and just use the wires at the motor end as your switch wires to make things simple 2 bear351c and Outback Jack reacted to this
bear351c 10,273 Posted February 23, 2015 This is on my ZL, so all the switches are on the drivers armrest. Nothing on the console. Prefer them on the console, My FC LTD had them there, so does my NF, keep reaching for them and sticking my fingers in the ashtray....... 1 Outback Jack reacted to this

Outback Jack 6,352 Posted February 25, 2015 HBWC, your a legend. Most X series suffer from voltage drop on demand in the electrical system. The starter is a perfect example. That relay set up allows full power to the motor of ya power windows, not unlike a starter relay. Also be careful when changing bailey channels, the clark rubber one is too shallow and ends up 'clamping' on the glass causing window motors to struggle or fail. Me mate Ash found that out the other day. Poor bastard. Jack. 2 bear351c and Jonathan Mark Davidson reacted to this
