Outback Jack 6,352 Posted June 10, 2014 Pretty easy dude, just take the sender assembly out of the tank (screws on top of tank) , remove assembly.... being careful NOT to bend the arm on float or damage anything, then remove old pump, fit up new pump and drop back in .... done. gerg 10,871 Posted June 10, 2014 Biggest prick of that job is the plastic retaining ring that screws onto the tank. They tend to shrink over time and seize on. Not easy to get back on either, and to keep the gasket in place while doing so. 2 bear351c and Outback Jack reacted to this
bear351c 10,277 Posted June 10, 2014 Yeah, if there not down tight, next time you fill your tank, petrol will leak out. ------then the attendant gets the shits on, ........then the Fire truck came, .....then the swear words started. 3 Outback Jack, gerg and XTREME KARTS XF reacted to this

Crazy2287 1,886 Posted June 11, 2014 open boot. Pull back carpet. undo access panel. Disconnect electrical connections from pump and sender. Clean all the dirt away from the assembly. Soak the retaining ring in a penetraring lubricant like wd40 and go have a cuppa tea. Undo ring. Get someone to help you. Throw a rag over it and try to undo it together. If that dont work grab some vice grips and bull nose pliers. If you can get four on there even better. Use them to grab the plastic wingletts sticking out of the rinf and while keeping the tools at 90 degrees to the wingletts apply an undoing moment in an anti clockwise direction. This worked for me. Hope y you have had your weet bix 2 Outback Jack and XTREME KARTS XF reacted to this
bear351c 10,277 Posted June 11, 2014 Agreed +1. I made a tool out of round stock, 600mm long with 2x 50mm prongs welded to it, at 90*. Worked a treat. Just needed a quarter turn more, to stop fuel weeping out. 3 gerg, XTREME KARTS XF and Outback Jack reacted to this
