SPArKy_Dave 8,894 Posted April 29, 2014 So, I've been drooling over all the fancy Mustang suspension setups available in the USofA, much of which will potentially suit our x-series. Ultimately, I'd like to upgrade the stock setup on the XG ute, to make it something special. There's quite alot to choose from. I'm thinking of tubular upper and lower arms, and the adjustable rose joint Caster bar kits. Also......... to Shelby/Arning drop or not?........... Keen to know peoples thoughts...... what would YOU choose and why? gerg 10,871 Posted April 29, 2014 RRS looks nice but going to town on your car with their gear, you could buy it five times over.
351XD_Fairmont 604 Posted April 30, 2014 This is the one I'm going to get when I have the cash http://www.petesclassicgarage.com/front-coil-over-conversion This setup would be a great improvement 1 gerg reacted to this

You've just equalled the value of your car and some, And that's just the front-end! You still have the rear end to tinker with and various other bits to add (brakes, rack-and-pinion, etc). I roughly worked it out going with RRS bits and you could easily blow 20 grand on suspension and steering, and it still needs engineering and installation! 351XD_Fairmont 604 Posted April 30, 2014 Yeah I see where your coming from but you don't build cars to make a profit, you build them for yourself, as for installation you can do it all yourself then take it to the local suspension shop for fine tuning. JETFTR 508 Posted April 30, 2014 i dont understand why the price of the car comes into it? the kits are all around the same price, so if you want to try something like that you have to be prepared to pay the money. my front brakes were worth about the same price that i paid for my car, but i feel the purchase price is irrelevant to the end goal of what i want to see my car finish like. if i was going down this track dave i like the global west stuff. i think a few people on here have had success with it, and when i was looking it looked like the best made kit you could get. 1 sikxe351 reacted to this
gerg 10,871 Posted April 30, 2014 If you plan on keeping the car forever, then yeah certainly. I've just seen people blow cubic amounts of money on cars and never see it again. I think the best way to look at it might be to compare it to buying a new car, the bonus being that you have something unique and classic as opposed to just another "appliance" that blends in with all the Camrys and Hyundais.
