Squid 55 Posted June 19, 2013 So my wagon got pin striping down the sides and on the bonnet and its peeling in places and I want to get rid of it.
But where it has peeled the paint is darker?
Help?
nickd 111 Posted June 19, 2013 Remove the pinstripe with a hair dryer, and give the wagon a good cut and polish. 1 steve mcqueen reacted to this
Mr Polson 10,214 Posted June 20, 2013 I've been told prepsol and heat gun/hair drier will help get it off.
Campo 869 Posted June 20, 2013 Heat gun to help peel the striping off then use some prepsol or wax and grease remover to remove any left over glue residue. The paint under the stripe will be a fair bit brighter, depending how long it has been on there, so give the car a full cut and polish (what a good excuse to get it looking smick again!) steve mcqueen 1,796 Posted June 20, 2013 Obviously take care with the heat gun Squid otherwise you'll be scorching the paint! REALLY REALLY GOOD ADVICE HERE ^^^^^^^ I personally wouldn't go near it with a heat gun, Nickd is on the money with the hair dryer! 2 ghia 86 and nickd reacted to this
Campo 869 Posted June 20, 2013 Heat gun is fine on about half temperature at about 6inches away. Dont need to get the sticker super hot, just warm.
nickd 111 Posted June 20, 2013 Thanks James & Steve, I'm not keen on hearing guys recommending using the heat gun. Hair dryer is the way to go. Cheers Nickd 1 steve mcqueen reacted to this
