As you've said, take the tyre off and run a bead of polyurethane around the inside join of the rim.

Nope, not going to happen fella. I ask because I'd love to just be able to bolt in the double din DVD player I've got here and be done with it.
-
What about a double din for XF lads?

doors doors and doors their not all the same
xm-221 replied to Jonathan Mark Davidson's topic in Body and Exterior
Maybe it will work, if I get his drift. Swap the handles side for side and modify the handle opening so they with pull up and clear. Then drill a hole for the XG/H clip on the part of the pivot arm that goes down (like a standard one does). Without actually checking an XG/H handle myself I reckon this might just work. -
Not ever owning a ute, or ever working in the area mentioned above, couldn't you use larger shank self tapping screws to hold them in?

Would heat soak only make a difference if you were stationary for an extended length of time? I would have thought the air flow dragging the heat away from the sump and extractors would mean that heat soak would be minimal in such an application. Or am I not seeing the bigger picture here?

Mine has 3/8th rubber hose for the feed line, standard carb feed line has been converted to the return line.
-
I'll check my setup tomorrow for you, am pretty sure it's the standard EFI return line.

The only issue I'd have with that is if the tyres slide as you're doing your burnout. Better have a hair trigger on that switch and a quick bloody reaction time IMO. Have seen plenty of high horsepower cars over the years clip a safety barrier because they've jumped sideways in the burnout box, and that's with full control of the fronts. I can see the advantage of locking the fronts using a manual box, it just doesn't sit well in my mind :-( Anyone else ever thought of using a gas lock off as a line lock (without the filter of course), if it can handle LPG pressure it could surely handle hydraulic pressure from the brakes yeah? Happy to be (scientifically) proved wrong on this.

This, the safe way to do it. Would rather have control of the fronts. Just make sure you switch it off, hate to be stopping from 120+ using fronts only :-/

I'll ask Tucker, it was from one of his wrecks. Edit: NC -
quick e series diff conversion questions

Cav, the diff I've got in Heather is from an NC/NL Fairlane and is 3.27:1. It has the wider lower control arm bush on the diff. -
Protec Epoxies generally don't need an etch coat. They work best over bare steel. Gav, does the literature you've got say it's for sanded surfaces or abraded? Whilst she's on her side blow all the dust from the blasting grit off, wiping with a rag as you go. Then get a pump pack that you can put thinners in and give her a wash from top to bottom, again wiping as you go. You'll go through a lot of rags but she'll be clean enough for the epoxy after that.

They have splines to stop the pin vibrating out, the circlip is there as a secondary safety measure in case the pin does come out.

You can buy reproduction seat kits material from Global Trim. Buy a set of Scheel seats and do it right. http://globaltrim.com.au

Just do it Noddy, I'm having a crack for the first time in 3 weeks myself mate. Love the conversion in the ute mate, I'll have to build myself a V8 one day.

I went for the V belt setup as I'm only running the alternator (manual steering). The belt I used was Dayco Top Cog 1535511A0990
-
Cheaper alternative to all the above, shorter fan belt! That's all I did to stop the alternator fan hitting the cross member in Heather. Lower tie bar is different and has more clearance in the XG.

Legendary Gav, this is what makes Ozfalcon the place to be, awesome diagrams to make our lives easier

I never bubble wrap anything without boxing it up as well, never trust Aus Post or couriers. -
I'm learning more about autos in this thread than I ever have. I'm a stick shifter myself, but have just found out I have 2 pan fill C4's sitting on my shelf

Some of the new types of paper are crap for doing windows now, if your'e in a country town you'll find some of the smaller newspapers use a lower quality paper and I find them the best for cleaning glass.

What about the tried and trusty (and more available) C10?

I thought XD/ZJ were the same as XE/ZK where there is a plate bolted on the firewall and all you had to do was take it off and bolt the clutch cable tube in?
