Free.51 2,727 Posted June 22, 2015 Hi guys I've gotta put in new bushes in the rear upper trailing arms in the Zl & want to know if I can do it by reversing the rear end up onto car ramps? Also the bolt at the rear of the arm does it have the nut welded to the bracket at the other end or do I need to get a spanner on the nut & a ratchet on the bolt head? Cos if this is the case it looks like I need to remove the wheels/calipers & rotors to get to the nut.
Thom 6,654 Posted June 22, 2015 The nut is captive on the diff end, you are better off supporting the car with stands and the diff separately(you want the diff hanging a bit so you have more room), it's a lot easier to do with the rear springs and shocks removed and pulling the wheels off, the calipers can be left on, when you reassemble the whole thing leave the bolts loose until you have the weight of the car on the diff (using ramps or stands) so the car is at ride height when you tighten everything up (this way the bushes won't wear out quickly due to being pre loaded) 2 XTREME KARTS XF and Outback Jack reacted to this
