Ando81 2,949 Posted December 5, 2014 Hi all, recently noticed that my washer pump isn't working on my wipers so I investigated this afternoon. It was a bit hard to test by myself with a multimeter but I thought I would plug a 12v horn in the wiring plug to make sure that there was power to the pump, turns out that one of the wires has constant power to it so I am assuming that the wiper stork just completes the earth to activate the pump. Can anyone else confirm this? Am going to get another pump motor tomorrow just to be sure.
Outback Jack 6,352 Posted December 5, 2014 The wiper motor should be a 'preslite' Ando. It is negative lift for OFF and connects for ON mate, checked the schematic for ya.Grey/Black is the Negative and Violet/Yellow is positive. Should be 13.5V @ 2.5A there. Ando81 2,949 Posted December 5, 2014 Thanks Jack, yeah positive was on the violet one so that side of it must be fine. The impeller is prob just rusted and siezed. 1 Outback Jack reacted to this
Outback Jack 6,352 Posted December 5, 2014 No Wukkas mate, always a pleasure. Hopefully you can replace the motor seperate from the wiper washer bottle if thats OK. Have a good weekend. Jack.
VDO 124 Posted December 6, 2014 You can sometimes bring your washer motor back to life by hooking it up directly to the battery with a couple of wires, and give it a couple of taps with the end of a screwdriver or similar. If it comes to life, then run it backwards and forwards a few times by reversing the polarity on the wires.
Ando81 2,949 Posted December 6, 2014 I actually shagged the outlet pipe getting the hose off. Went to get the new pump and the inlet size was too big and wouldn't fit into the bottle. Will have to take it back and get the correct size.
XTREME KARTS XF 1,212 Posted December 6, 2014 Something like this Justin? 1 Ando81 reacted to this
Ando81 2,949 Posted December 6, 2014 Just like that Mark, I thought I can pull my small grommet out and put the big one in but the big one was too big for the bottle hole. I need the 6mm inlet and the 5mm outlet or whatever it is. 1 XTREME KARTS XF reacted to this
