Panko 2,484 Posted July 19, 2014 Ok guys, So im looking at a rear swaybar that is listed for sale to suit an XD sedan (leaf spring obviously). First of all, would this suit my XF wagon? It is an aftermarket sway bar so has the brackets to go around the outaide of the diff, and has the drop link for up the front of the sway bar. Secondly, does anybody have pics of a rear sway bar fitted to a leaf sprung x series so i have something to reference to? cheers Panko
gerg 10,871 Posted July 19, 2014 My coupe's got one but it was fitted 30 years ago and is pretty dodge by today's standards

Axle bracket:mounting at bodythrough-chassis mount bolt 2 Outback Jack and XTREME KARTS XF reacted to this
XTREME KARTS XF 1,212 Posted July 20, 2014 It'll bolt up to the diff no worries but it'll be too short, i've got an XD sedan one sitting in the shed that came our of chaises green XD when i bought the diff off of him. Your more than welcome to take it.
Panko 2,484 Posted July 20, 2014 Mark could you do me a favour? Could you possibly measure (as accurately as possible) the length of the forward arm going from the diff forward to where the drop links are. Also, if you have them, can you please take a photo of the brackets that go onto the chassis. If i can get those measurements i can measure on my car where it comes to 1 XTREME KARTS XF reacted to this
gerg 10,871 Posted July 20, 2014 Photos are crap but the brackets on mine are just pieces of 2x2" angle iron bolted through the chassis rail.
Panko 2,484 Posted July 20, 2014 Do they have a bush or sleeve thats pressed into the chassis holes? I remember talking to Pedders sometime ago about a rear sway bar kit, and they said there is a sleeve that gets pushed into the chassis rail holes, then the bolt runs through the inside of the sleeve. gerg 10,871 Posted July 20, 2014 I can't dismantle to see but I should imagine that to be true, to stop the chassis getting squashed as you tighten the bolt.
XTREME KARTS XF 1,212 Posted July 20, 2014 I thought aftermarket sway bar droplinks bolt to the anchor bolt for the front spring eye?
Panko 2,484 Posted July 20, 2014 Either way, it looks like my car has no holes in the chassis for brackets for drop links. Ill have the car up on ramps tomorrow so ill get a good look then,
