Anyone put a Fairlane factory amp in a lower spec model?

I've noticed that Z series fairlanes, and maybe X series Fairmonts have a factory amp located under the centre console.

 

Would one of those be possible to wire into a lower spec model? I have an XF GL.  I'm only going to run 4" fronts and 6*9' for the rear. I'd like a small amp for some extra kick in the audio. My XF is a ute so places to mount a big aftermarket amp are limited. Having it hidden from plain sight is a very big plus.

wouldnt waste ya time. buy a normal audio store amp and put it under a seat. factory amps arent designed to do anything but sell the car im afraid

For the price of a semi decent aftermarket amp it's not worth it.

I used the EF-EL amp in my ute to run a 6.5" sub, does the job fine.

The XF/ZL premo sound amp is only 40w total, even a cheap amp would have more power/features. and your not limited to the original short cables.
