EgoXF 2,026 Posted July 18, 2013 does anybody on here have any advice about using flexi prime? our mechanic at work snagged my bumper on the hoist and destroyed it (FUCK), and we noticed the paint just cracked and fell off so the flexi prime hasn't worked. what are the steps that should be taken to make it work? Hatchy 23 Posted July 18, 2013 i reckon the bar wasnt prepped properly, did it have plastic primer before it was painted?
steve mcqueen 1,796 Posted July 18, 2013 i reckon the bar wasnt prepped properly. Id have to say the same. Id blast the shite out of that with a high pressure cleaner get rid of all that paint that aint sticking, no suds, then start again. Rub it back, make sure its clean, again no suds. Use a quality plastic primer, none of this rubbish in a aerosol can. Use something buy Spies Hecker or Baslac Then do the clear over base per normal. Give it to a smash repairer to fix. revhead 1,392 Posted July 18, 2013 ok simple use compressed air or a gerni to remove the loose paint , its not just plasty primer you need , 1, plastic primer should only be applied to clean plastic ,with no other contaminates you dont rub it you dont prime over it. 2, after cleaning crap off bar ,plastic parts ,give 2 light coats of plastic primer. 3, you need to buy ELASTIC ADDITIVE ,YOU ADD AROUND 2 /3 mils TO YOU COLOUR ,WHAT THIS DOES IS ALLOW THE PAINT stretch and shrink when it drys , whats happened here is ,the plastic got hot stretched ,and when it contracted the paint being brittle just cracked ,simple 4. also if you clear over the base ,add elastic to the clear as well 1 EgoXF reacted to this
