    Late model XF seat mounts...

yep, EF EL/XH seat can tell by the winders and headrest (someone could tell by the trim exactly) these mount different due to the hand brake being moved to the console area on these cars.. hence the need to butcher it(can be modded to fit much much better though, no idea why they'd gone to that level of bodge) i think if the seat bolt hole isn't butchered, finding EA to ED or 1989 to 1995 ute/van seats they'd be a direct SAFE fit up. be easier to find than a bench in good condition.. if you can find a wrecker with 2 good lefts and a drivers in the same cloth, you can swap the trim and foam from a left seat to the drivers.. (do it yourself or pay someone. link here will give you a good idea of what's needed to do it.. )

what seat is that in it(butchered) might be an XH/EF EL seat and why it's been "modified" to suit

    Late model XF seat mounts...

the 1989 -1993 XF and XG used EA to ED seats/mounts.. (XH used EF to EL seats/mounts) i'll see if i can google one up for you, but the seat belt mount was on that corner on buckets, but the bench still had stalks mounted to the floor.

Fuel pump - mechanical vs electric?

if the engine is the original to the car i'd get another mechanical pump or hook it up and see if it works. only reason i mention original, is if it's from an EFI car (or the cam is) then they don't have a fuel pump lobe.. if you do choose to try the mechanical pump on it, beware it's not leaking fuel into the oil/sump.. some were rebuildable some were not

i couldn't tell you if it's different to ED, but i'd be surprised if it was. @Thom could probably confirm it easily, he's our 4.0 expert I believe

the EL falcon had the BBM and a dissy. if you need to remove the dash, it can be removed 90% complete, it was under heater core replacement in the Gregory's manual. there's a write up on here but i can't find it right now. basically what you need to remove is the radio (due to the antenna lead plugging into the back) and any aftermarket wiring that's been connected (alarm, speaker wires etc) and before doing much else unscrewing the cable off the heater box behind the glovebox for the blend door(screen/feet etc lever) and unplug the fan wires from dash to heater box soon as you can access them. I've seen Dash's pulled down to near nothing while still in the car and it's not necessary you may be able to just swing it out a little, by undoing the 2 bolts behind the front of the console, and the 2 bolts that go into the A pillars roughly near the door light switches but there's 5 screws under the winsdcreen vents so you can't go too far out due to it being curved or it will break the mounts(perhaps removing the 3 screws on the left side of the screen area would be enough

    Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)

yeah looks better below the bumper line in My opinion also . be simple enough to blue tak it in place for a look in various positions

    Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)

looking complete again, slimline plates are now available for club permit, have seen them. would one suit the front better? (no idea if you can get them in same number, or a new pair etc.. not cheap either)

    XG ute Borgwarner upgrade

not many use 9 inch these days. i'd ring a diff joint(several) and sort out the recommendations. need to mention what running gear you are planning to use, how much power you are wanting, if it's for drag, street etc use and that will probably dictate what ratio you will need/want also and then what type of LSD they use for that conversion if not the standard type. also depends on brakes you plan to use, because if you are upgrading rears it might be something that's not a bolt on for one but is for another
  14. deankxf

    XG ute Borgwarner upgrade

the XG diff is already 28 spline, they are pretty tough depending how much power you are planning on putting through it. probably better off ringing a few diff joints. see whether you even need a truetrack Vs the standard LSD option and what ratio you will want for your conversion also.

    XE/XF Spring Heights??

with My cars above, the burgundy XF was already lowered, left it that low (until i raised it super high) silver XE i was looking for used springs(bugger all money at the time) and the local speedway racer i asked about who were selling the set pictured said he'd swap my springs .. deal done.. (they used to run standards on one side, V8 and Fairlane rears on the other side ..was hard to find standards for cheap.. low springs useless on speedway) the ute i had measured the rear "sagged" height and it was at "LOW" height.. so just bought low fronts to match . perfect.. i wouldn't bother swapping springs unless i was doing the bushes .. costs a lot of $$ or time
  16. deankxf

    XE/XF Spring Heights??

i agree with this but i reckon the V8s understeer easier.. (had mentioned many times i've posted that, that it can be "tuned out" with sway bars etc.. but stock for stock, the V8s always handled worse for Me) your XE is pretty high, My raised XF springs were similar height same car on Pedders SUPER LOWS this was My XE Ghia on King SUPER LOWS only have a pic of My ute on KING LOWS all been sold long ago now though
  17. deankxf

    XE/XF Spring Heights??

yes, i'll tell you now if you enjoy driving it AVOID super lows. (will bottom out on bump stops/shocks and bump steer). i had LOWS in most of My cars, and think they are the best compromise if you don't like standard height. i fitted the raised springs to one of My cars once, and it looked dorky.. but seemed to drive fine. i had an ESP and i reckon the springs were on the softer side, they'd probably be on par with fairmont ghia springs if you could even find them either.. new king springs if you want a firmer ride, (spring wise) new pedders springs for a slightly softer ride (spring wise) SHOCKS... you'd definitely want BETTER shocks for KING Lows, big bore ULTIMA on ebay seem the go for the budget minded, otherwise the big bore pedders or Konis etc are the go if you can afford the extra cost. the pedders being slighty softer (in My opinion) you'd get away with monroe GTs etc the pedders springs are softer and do body roll more in my opnion (this is also assuming nothings changed in the last 15yrs or so) BUSHES.. body roll is GREATLY reduced with nolathane or poly bushes especially on the link bushes. other bushes i prefer rubber, but more for longevity than performance. there will be several other opinions on this, so consider waiting for others to join in with their experience, but i used to drive between 600 and 800km a week in the XD XE XFs for 10yrs and that's what i am going on. idler arms lasted 6 months before they were getting sloppy.

    Can I Keep my BTR

Tuff Mounts make one, think it was about $400 last year(mate bought one to fit AU engine in XG) in this package with mounts for engine https://www.tuffmounts.com.au/product/conversion-kits/tuff-mounts-barra-conversion-kit-into-xa-xf-ford-falcon/
  19. i had trouble finding a photo of a T5 box even the other day. so starting this thread for some hope of keeping people informed when they are extinct soon. this is the 3.3 litre 5 speed (some call it the sigma 5 speed, because it's possibly same as used on a Mitsubishi sigma) I'm only going from memory of having one 25yrs ago. POINTS OF INTEREST GEARSTICK LOCATION (same as "falcon" single rail/T5) BELL HOUSING, Alloy, gearbox bolts to bell from inside the clutch area, clutch cable on drivers side Tail shaft yolk is definitely unique, and i think shaft length might be specific to this box clutch plate at min is specific Reverse is next to 1st like a single rail not rated for the torque of a 4.1/250 apparently

Cool but annoying. Yeah there's a lot more wires going on in those dashes with cruise control and climate control etc.

also a good opportunity to check/replace the 30yr old heater core also and the sealing foam where the heater box meets the dash etc

@Panko re pinned the factory plug on his ghia wagon to accept the EL ecu to run on his crossflow, so that may be another option if you are up for a different kind of challenge. (link to approximately where it was running off it on the crossflow with issues) there is smart lock on the EL computer to deal with, and has the XG got smart lock? smart lock would be an issue stopping you from just a simple plug in unless looking into running a J3 chip. i don't have any more than that, hopefully a few more members chip in with more.

250 Xflow Water Pump Pulley - non clutch fan version

there still might be, but it's not well documented if so. i guess the difference here(Australia) up until now ish, was there were wrecking yards with old junk in them you'd just get an XC XD etc pulley from..(oldest thing in the wreckers these days is probably around 1990 unless there's someone specialising in certain models like i linked above) there might be reference on say VPW or other speed shops for aftermarket chrome pulleys etc, but you could be looking for a long time.. i would assume there'd be a "chrome pulley kit" for a falcon 6... it would likely say, use XC XD water pump or similar if so.

250 Xflow Water Pump Pulley - non clutch fan version

i vaguely My Dad modifying one, but i think he went the other way(bored the hole out bigger for the clutch hub) XE also had a viscous fan. the XD and prior are likely similar, and same for clevo might be similar(depending on offset) and possibly windsor. (i remember going through a bunch of pulleys trying some on a V8 once and some were too big (possibly off a 6cyl?) so there's probably heaps of sizes over the years(these could have been anything from XY to XD from my stash, i never marked them) what is your goal? no clutch fan? or to bolt up a fixed fan? for the price of a water pump you might be better off going back to the XE XF water pump and cutting the threads off for the fan and using the original pulley? you can try the 2 Aussie wreckers i would try that might have one otherwise. rusty ford wreckers (Melbourne Vic Au) http://www.rustyfordwreckers.com.au/ (also on facebook as Luke GT) or rusty ford wreckers and scotty XDF wreck operates from facebook if he's got it will be cheaper https://www.facebook.com/ScottySuttonsXDFwreck both would post to NZ i would expect,

    XG Bullbar

heaps of different designs, anything that was on an XD XE XF XG will pretty much bolt up where the irons bolt to the chassis rail and usually fit well around the lights etc still. google image link here for heaps. https://www.google.com/search?q=xf+falcon+bullbar&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjW_-jLycj4AhVg7XMBHU9zDREQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1366&bih=625&dpr=1
