TICKFORD 94DT HEAD

Recommended Posts

Sounds pretty cheap.

Does the head gasket look new? There will be bits visible.

Also sometimes when a head is reconditioned the machine shop will glue a little aluminium disc on the head. The idea is that if you overheat it the glue gives way and the disc falls off. Like I said, only sometimes they do it.

If that is an ef engine I'd buy the whole thing. You'll get the best crank, only one to have 12 counterweights.

You can't use a e series crank in an au engine (except the el hybrid engine) as they have a different main journal size

I would probly just grab it anyway if its an ef crank,i could still use it in another build, another question,if the EF-EL head is so much better than the au why did ford not keep it ?

It's not really any better, but it is good for raising compression on an au engine and gives you a larger cam selection (ford and aftermarket) although a tickford head is an improvement over a standard head

Standard 4.0 comp ratio is 8.8:1

Xr6 e series comp ratio is 9.0:1 xr6 have a larger exhaust valve and slightly revised ports (intake and exhaust) as the head is a different casting as well as marginally heavier valve Springs
