So it's only when going uphill?

Will it do it on level ground if you floor it enough for it to drop back to 2nd?

Maybe it could be a gearbox (fluid) problem?

LEVEL GROUND It seems to be fine .Thinking Thermostat maybe  Up hill on a long pull when it dose it

Sounds like a problem under load..  Did you change out the fuel filter ? Or as MNTL.XD said..trans fluid level OK? Sounds like its going into limp mode.

Is the NF really hot under the bonnet, maybe your gauge is out of whack, and she's overheating. Try changing the 'stat for a cooler one, or grab a second hand radiator, maybe? Is the timing correct.?
