bigpaulo 239 Posted July 8, 2014 Ive just pulled apart my heater box to see if its leaking. I noticed some brown stain on the underfelt inside my ute, around where the heater pipes go through. Im not sure if this is from when I removed the heater pipes and water ran back through the cab, or if the core has a leak. Is there anyway I can test the core to see if it has a leak or not? Cheers. bear351c 10,273 Posted July 8, 2014 Pressure test would be about the only way. Radiator joint may be able to do it. They pressurise it, turn off the valves and watch the gauge to see if it moves. My experience, the brown leak is coming from the heater core, I'm guessing your coolant is usually green??
bigpaulo 239 Posted July 8, 2014 Yeah good point bear. Turns out im gonna need a whole new heater box anyway, I noticed one of the linkages to the vent flap is broken. Bugger.
bear351c 10,273 Posted July 8, 2014 Shame about that. But, still the other lasted 20 years or so.........
Mr Polson 10,214 Posted July 8, 2014 Good luck finding a heater box without that linkage broken, it's a very very common issue.
bigpaulo 239 Posted July 8, 2014 oh no dont tell me that!
Mr Polson 10,214 Posted July 8, 2014 I'm pretty sure you can fix them somehow, or find a Ghia/Fairlane box and swap the elec controls back to cable. Â Ghia/Lane boxes have a metal rod there instead of the plastic one.
Mr Polson 10,214 Posted July 8, 2014 Im betting its a plastic version of this that has snapped? Â 1 XTREME KARTS XF reacted to this
bigpaulo 239 Posted July 9, 2014 polson you are spot on  the arm itself didnt snap, just where it mounts to the flap...i'm hoping superglue can fix it...
Mr Polson 10,214 Posted July 9, 2014 Ah the arm does normally snap. Â Can always try superglue see how well it'll hold up.

Mr Polson 10,214 Posted July 9, 2014 I would assume so, but they look like they mount differently?
