Boss351 4 Posted March 14, 2014 Hey guys Anyone here put a second bonnet gas strut on an XD XE? If so how did you go about it? Only way I can see to do it is drill the spot welds on the plate under the guard, and weld on a nut. Reason being I think the bonnet is a bit heavy for the single strut and seems to twist a bit when its open. Dave Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Outback Jack 6,352 Posted March 14, 2014 Heya mate, find an old crap bonnet, cut the bracket off , flip it and weld it to the other side, should be a hole for the bottom of the strut in engine bay, but there is no top mount on other side of bonnet.. Boss351 4 Posted March 14, 2014 Thanks for the replies guys. Bonnet bracket is all sorted, its just the nut that the lower mount bolts to. My XE just has a hole, with the other side not accessible.
