Tim Stewart 0 Posted March 13, 2014 Hey Guys I'm a bit of an idiot and when I stripped my crossflow many years ago I just chucked all the bolts in a box together, little did I realise there were a few different lengths of bolts amongst them, now its time to get bolting and Ive got no idea what lengths bolts are going where, can anyone shed any light on this? agentkiwi 110 Posted March 13, 2014 Its worth buying a parts list dvd off ebay. Search for "dvd xd xe or falcon parts" for about $20 you get exploded views of every single thing on or In the car
ZL. 19 Posted March 14, 2014 head bolts should be all the same except the one at the front where the earth lead goes
Banno 479 Posted March 14, 2014 For peace of mind just buy new head bolts. Then you know they are right ones and in new tensile strength. As ZL says they are all the same except the No. 13 bolt at the front for earth strap is different
bear351c 10,270 Posted March 15, 2014 I suggest a new set, but if money is tight and you use the old ones, check the lengths all together, and make the longest one match all the rest. If the bolts have been mis-matched in the past, they may have been in a specific order in the block. Using a 'too long' bolt in a 'too short' hole, means the bolt will bottom out in the hole, and not crush your head gasket properly. Just a thought.
