are AU and BA 5 speeds the same?

well i got 400km or so out of the box in my ute im looking for another one but i wanted to know if the AU BAs BFs are the same i think somone told me the BA BF are diffrent. i want a new box and im a little worryed about putting a old box behine my engine cause it will just smash it again

I do know that they are similar, and that the Ba+ uses a t5z, which is supposed to be stronger. i am 99% sure that the au's run them as well

Nope AUs have the T5OD just with a slightly longer rear housing putting the shifter box back about an inch or so, apart from that they are the same as earlier Eseries T5s.

The BA non turbo boxes i believe are the same as AUs, couldbe wrong but. The BA turbos and onwards are teh T5OZ which have a stronger input shaft and require a turbo clutch as the input shaft has more splines. There is a ratio difference too i think i heard once.

All should be adaptable to what you got now with the right bell and clutch setup The BF turbs have a pretty trick lightened flywheel setup aswell if your in the mood for it.

unless you get yourself a BA onwards Ute box they no longer have a Speedo drive but use the abs sensors instead

True that thom forgot about that one. Apparently you van drill out the hole and fit the drive gear on the output shaft still. The boss is still there to do it.

Is that a comparison shot of the BW T5OD and the Tremec T5OZ?

Its a fair bit longer hey, and that transducer boss is on the opposite side looking at that pic.

Ahh thats why its so short. I think the shifter box is set back from the end of the housing about 30mm in the BW T5s where as the Tremecs are flush with the end as in your pic.

is that mustang extension housing as short as a Chevy s10 version, alot of hot rodders use the s10 extension for it's shortness toi

the S10 is way too short for my application. maybe for someone with a engine sitting back in the cab with recessed firewall.
