Ando81 2,949 Posted December 6, 2013 Yeah I have heard that shrouds are designed to draw air through the radiator more efficiently, it sort of funnels the air from the front surface of the whole radiator and as the fan draws the air through the radiator it has a better cooling effect. Without a shroud it is easier for the fan to suck air from the sides of the radiator and in turn not dragging the cool air though the cooling tubes of the radiator. I learnt this after a mate cooked his motor in his bobcat all because he couldn't be stuffed fitting the shroud back in after cleaning out the radiator, big rookie error! Mr Polson 10,214 Posted December 6, 2013 Right, I'm noticing all this stuff in the factory manual I've just gotten. I'm pretty sure the radiator itself is the wider one. Easy to tell, if the top rad hose goes on at an angle, its a heavy duty. If its square onto the the rad, its the smaller one.
BBS XE 160 Posted December 7, 2013 Yes, it is angled, thanks for that. I'll just have to find another shroud at the wreckers.

RAWDEAL 222 Posted December 10, 2013 The way, that i know, to test the clutch is when the car is hot, try to spin the fan, if the fan free spins or has no resistance, its prolly rooted in the morning try it again, it should free spin when cold
Ando81 2,949 Posted December 11, 2013 Yeah and a fella said to me that if I turn it off when it's up to running temp the fan should do no more than 1.5 turns as the motor stops. If it keeps spinning, she's rooted
