NZXD 2,328 Posted November 26, 2013 Hey just after a piece of advice. Just had a new screen put in the XD and the glazier put the trims on, and said the sides needed a strip of foam as there is a 5mm gap. Has anyone ever replaced the foam or just left the slight gap? steve mcqueen 1,796 Posted November 27, 2013 Ive never replaced the foam in mine and never had issues. Its the thinnest strip of foam just on the inside. What it does, is beyond me so never worried about it.
NZXD 2,328 Posted November 27, 2013 Cheers man. Have you experienced any wind whistle noises at open road speeds?
steve mcqueen 1,796 Posted November 27, 2013 Id have to say no. The foam is so light weight and had a glue holding it in place. Id say it was put in place to perhaps "stop the trim hitting the glass in the event it got out of shape"? Ive just looked at one ive got out there, well its missing half of it and that's the best id come up with. If you wanted to replace it I reckon you could run a bead of silicon down it and let it really dry out before fitting back on your car.
NZXD 2,328 Posted November 27, 2013 Sweet, think I'll leave it for now and see how it goes. I don't ever remember seeing any foam tears ago when the screen came out. also the rate spares rear screen seal is top notch, put one in and its perfect. 1 steve mcqueen reacted to this

Mine is missing the foam and at certain speeds it flaps and vibrates. Not a problem, just annoying.
