Mikstanley1980 0 Posted July 17, 2013 Hi, I have an 1994 XG Xr6 Ute. I have just put new headlights, with surrounds in. I wired it all up. Now my lights flicker when the high beams are on. I have replaced the relays. Also put in lower wattage globes and it is still doing it. What would you suggest is the problem? All wiring seems good, no breaks or frayed wire. Cheers Mik. revhead 1,392 Posted July 17, 2013 you have a little tin box near the relays ,this is your problem ,get a higher voltage contact unit unit ,this will fix your problem ,most auto elects will sort you the part you need youl see 2 big yellow wires running to this little biometalic tin box, 1 'Nova reacted to this
Ando81 2,950 Posted January 29, 2014 Sorry to hijack the thread mate but I was just wondering if anyone knows if xg xr6 headlights will fit into xf. As in do the wires just plug straight up?
mattymc 30 Posted February 6, 2014 My xf was doing the same thing. The instructions for my twin headlights recommend running a 40 amp headlight relay instead of a 30 amp if you have issues with flickering. I would also check out all of your earths while you're at it. Another thing that I found is that if the connectors for the headlights are dirty or corroded this can also happen mine were full of dirt/mud after some off roading .
