    Falcon XC MSD Ignition Help

Nice work mate. Bring idle up to 625-650rpm. Take ya carb mixture screws out to 1 1/4 turns. Adjust to 30 degrees and that will keep it from leaning out. Easiest way to remember how to set msd curve. You have 30 on motor. You want to start car at 10. 30-20=10. So to start car you need to retard 20 degrees. Thats your starting point. Will be on the left of graph. Then say your motor revs to 6000rpm. Idles for arguements sake at 1000. You have 5000rpm to divide by 20 degrees of timing... So thats 1 degree of timing to 250rpm.... You put a log point up one degree every 250rpm. Will give you a rough base curve to start with. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk
  9. Yeah new msd programmables dont come with the cable or driver its a rort. Just get the one they recommend and use driver supplied with it. After we did that we didn't have a problem. Ash has it at home if you can't find info maybe we can find out where it was from. Tried a cable that wasnt recomnended and a stock driver and didn't work. They must pin the cables different as stated above. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Carbied 4litre

Dizzy gear flipping a crossy dizzy gear to fit the dizzy to a 4L...... very bad idea. Everytime I see this done they end up farkin the oil pump drive. They are not the same. Use a 4L dizzy and a programmable MSD 6AL2. Thats if you want to run carby and be done with the factory computer. Base timing for 4L is always 10btdc, so you can go from there. Unsure how far advanced they will go standard before they ping. Sure someone here can tell ya. Personally, if its a skid pig find something like a crossy or earlier V8 and save yaself a lot of $$$ and farkin around. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk
  11. Also check your driver is right for the usb. Me and Ash had a few teething probs at first because of incompatable driver software. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Falcon XC MSD Ignition Help

Yeah gerg I can confirm MSD 6al2 on crossy with est dizzy is fine with no phasing at 30 degree timing at the dizzy and running a curve with a start at 15 degrees retard from the motors timing of 30 degrees. Was trying to find something on the one I put in ash xf's ute. Timing curve was trickiest bit ( thanks again Ando76 ) and dont forget to set the box to 6 cylinder.... factory default is 8. Ash's doesn't run a map sensor or anything. Runs rich but thats because it's a 600 holley on a pretty mild crossy. Lol. Goes like a shower of shit. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Turbo needed for XG ute turbo build.

Hey guys, Me young mate built a kick ass lil turbo set up for his XG ute but today the turbo shat itself. Looks like the oil seal failed then bearing collapsed sending the impeller into the housing and ground it a new arsehole. Lol Poor bastard is an apprentice mechanic, so funds are tight. The turbo he had was a cheap brand and will be binned. My question is would anyone have a decent garrett maybe rebuilt or maybe a turbo off a later model falcon that they don't need due to upgrading to a bigger set up? He's a good guy and would just like to help him out if possible. Cheers. .. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Turbo needed for XG ute turbo build.

Hey pro 250, mate seems to think his MAP sensor can flow 14psi. Is it something in the ECU or something else that restricts it? I dunno much about the limitations of the stock set up in a turbo application. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Timing lose

When I set up an msd 6al2 ando76 helped me understand the curve. If you have the timing locked at motor at just an example... 30 degrees. The timing curve is actually supposed to pull timing (retard) as the engine raises in rpm. So if you set the motor at 30 degree advance.... and set the start up at 15 degree on ignition that is subtracted from the original 30 and any curve put in is subtracting from that point up to full rpm. If it's a standard dizzy with vac advance the diaphragm should do the same and mechanical does it with weights. You guys probably know this shit but just in case something was overlooked. OHC block corrosion

I'd just fill em give the block a clean up after and start using that Evans waterless coolant stuff. No water..... no corrosion. That 2 part epoxy is pretty tough and will take a lot of heat as well once set. I'd let it sit for 3-4 days before I even sanded it so it bonded real well. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Timing lose

I reakon be that ignition,is only logical answer. On an msd it should work fine... ignition box is only thing that can cause that sort of drop off without sonething being busted. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Alternators for crossflow...WTF

I was just thinking the same thing Sly. Its almost like ALL the internals on the alternators are the same and the only thing that changes in reality is the pulley size. Ok., if you can use one from an xg or eb2 sohc motor or get a new one the same. It's actually a mitsubishi unit. Built in IC regulator. 3 wire B+ battery connection L. Warning light S. Battery sense. Is 60Amp minimum (actually 65-70amp) alternator in the wiring not by pulley size@ 2,500-3,000rpm Thats with ALL accesories running. Looked for model number for alternator but just says mitsubishi 6 cylinder. Should be same one on any eb2, xg. Xf is still bosch alternators 50A bosch is model U-K1 ® 14/50A 60A boschvis model U-K1 ® 14/60A. Hope that helps. Mine is same un rebuilt alternator from factory driven in dusty environment since 1996. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk
