    Stripped rocker arm bolt

Good luck mate. Hope it all comes good. The tabs dont raise the surface of where the rocker bolts in does it? Any change in that might account for some extra play. Crossy On! Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk
  3. Hey guys! Have been offered a XR6T motor and T5 5 speed ...well actually a whole front cut including fuel tank etc. Now what I want to know is if it is possible to somehow get all this in my ute without butchering it??? I would like a modern motor with about 100kw more grunt..... but in my ol skool girl. Guy was askin about 3.5k...... Everything is there. Motor has had bit of a tickle and running a piggyback chip...also about a 140,000km motor, but thats as much as I know. Just wanted some ideas as to if it was worth it..... motor and box in my ute is getting long in tooth... but original.... do maybe keep and rebuild. I know its a big job but I'm really curious what 240kw and 550nm in an Outback feels like.... maybe no aircon this summer again..... lol. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Fitting BA XR6T motor and T5 box into an 96 XG Outback Ute

I wish! We are talking ol skool Clevo eh Bear? Hehe. I may go down the fg road later... just a Barra and cams, chip and stuff. Then no need for notching strut tower. Is probably all the power I need and will be reliable. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Fitting BA XR6T motor and T5 box into an 96 XG Outback Ute

Cool fellas. Sometimes original is cool... and if it was a 95 Outback.... maybe, but not a 96. Can't be more than 10 built. Mines one of two manuals in Le Mans red. I'll keep her as is for now. Cheers. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Fitting BA XR6T motor and T5 box into an 96 XG Outback Ute

Cheers for the honest info fellas, think I'll have to pass on it. 1. Too exxy for what it is. 2. Not the best platform for future mods without upgrades. 3. Modifications needed will take away from originality of rare ute. 4. Box is same as my T5 now... not an upgrade. I did do my homework last few days and ba is easiest to run ecu with pin outs off and wires removed you dont need. Bf has intergrated security naking it a shit. Its the chopping of the body... will ruin an original. Oh well.... was worth a thought anyway. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

Fitting BA XR6T motor and T5 box into an 96 XG Outback Ute

Cheers Hendrix.... yeah was thinking it needed to have tower notched in bay and wiring was ok but dash has me farked..for now.... Define butchery?..... the art of butchering.... lol Electronics right up my alley. Just wanted to know if for all the crap it was worth it.... or the right direction if I wanted to go that way... Yeah Ants I thought was a bit exxy. I was maybe interested at about 2.5K but know what ya saying with intercooler and shit.... Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Panko's Mk1 Escort (Round 2)

Hehe... been here... Just get a set of tin snips cut your inside lip every 10cm with a v cut but not all the way to the edge so it doesnt show outside. Use a hammer and carefully work the tabs back being careful not to go too hard. After finished... clean and glass over top.... if needed. Also valliant rear air shocks out of a ranger etc will fit in rear of escort...with a massage of the top mounts. Mount filler in boot. You will need these so you csn pump them up if you want to drive with passangers in the back. If that doesnt clear your tyres its time for some ol stocky 12" and tyre on and roll a round pipe between that and guard to flare it. Hope that helps, is what I did years ago with mine before 1600 front springs and a 2L and box snuck in there.... lol. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Engine running warmer than usual...

Dont use flyscreen. Too fine will block airflow. Try cheap black 25% shade cloth and cable ties. Make sure ya get it over the bottom of the radiator intake as well. I run one on me ute. We have grasshoppers the size of seagulls. Hahaha Will keep ya radiator nice and clean. Anf the bugs get a trampoline..... of death! Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

If you want good oil.. Penrite HPR 10 It's 10w-50... sohc 4.0's love it.... heaps of zinc. My Xg takes 5L bang on the money inc filter. Not cheap oil but fully synth is great stuff. I agree 20 and 30 weight too much... 15 max... Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Tyre Recommendation

Heya Lordi , thanks for the great breakdown on the makes. Have to agree I like Toyos , Kuhmo do some awesome types. Yokies are too soft for a long wearing Tyre. ... for short term performance. I am looking at a set of Dunlop ST Road Grippers. 235/75R15 @ $149 tyre Inc fit and Bal. Need something good on Highway but can do a Lil rough stuff and have a Lil bit of a chunky off road look. I love some of the mud types just for the look... but at 250-300+ a tyre it gets a bit excited for a non 4×4. Yeah, think it had 75's already on it, those old 4×4 tyres. Now rolling on same as yours 225-70-15. They are just road tyres so ute looks a bit dick being so high. I'll get speedo checked at some stage..... Cheers mate. I would like a set of chunky arse Mud Terrain tyres on it to make it look tough but most are a hit on the road and noisy as. Will keep looking. Cheers. Jack. Oh. And the 235 width should be OK? I know rears easy but hopefully won't foul on the front. Sure we used to run 245 on the front of xd/xf no problem. .... Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Tyre Recommendation

Hey guys, just looking at tyres for the XG outback ute. I just wanted to know if 235/75R15 tyres will be OK on my steel stockies. Rims are EA DA-DA. Running and have run 225 no problem. It's just there is a special on them but only that width, no smaller. Cheers guys. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Xg ute spark plugs

Cheers mate though it be something along those lines... Is why I chose the 4 tip bosch plugs, Present a more open spark to the combustion chamber. I'll have to have a measure of the lengths for comparison. They do have a low compression at 8.5:1 on standard 4.0L, maybe that has something to do with it? Maybe someone with an xr6 XG with higher comp engine might see if same plug is recomnended as standard one. I have motorcraft AGS33CC Size M14 × 1.25 Hex 20.6 AF REACH 19.0mm Gap 1-1.1mm Torque 20Nm Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

    Xg ute spark plugs

Hey Dave I run those new bosch 4 tip plugs... they seem pretty good as well. Whats the advantage of having the longer electrode? Sorry for the hi-jack...... (Pun intended). Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

XG Outback ute - Dual Fuel tank wiring and plumbing guide.

No Wukking Furries Wazza. My pleasure. I dunno how much I helped but if ya have any more probs hit me up and we'll get to bottom of it.... eventually.... hahaha. Once its all running sweet you'll love it. Guy probably ran it a lot on gas system too.... so maybe new fuel might help too. Good to meet another late model XG Outback owner. Only met one other... wagon/ute diffs 3.45 gears

Agree with Thom Eb-El xr6 best transplant option.... is clutch pack LSD. Outback utes did have an LSD 3.45 in XG but it is a silicon filled coupling LSD. Not rebuildable, sealed unit and no one makes the couplings. I have one in my XG Outback. Hydratrak diff. XH Outback has same. BA ute , jacked up version has the switchable locker but that won't fit as stated above. Hope that helps. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk
