  1. OK, the rear Gas Magnums are in, I was surprised by how thick the studs were and wondered if they would fit, as the GT gas were a lot thinner, but they went in no problems. Here is the difference... Ride in ute has tightened up and handling well. Sorry there are no more comparison shots, had the rears put in for me as I lacked a few tools at home. Here they are fitted..... Well, there you go. A heavy duty option for XF-XG Ute's from Monroe. The ride has really tightened up and ute feels a lot more planted. The old shocks weren't in too bad condition, they were just too flimsy, you can feel the difference. Thats all from me and Big Red on shocks time to hit the Highway... Sent from my S21 using Tapatalk
  2. Just some Comparison pics between the Monroe GT gas I took out of the Front of the ute and the new Monroe Gas Magnum TDT's. As you can see the Gas Magnums are a MUCH beefier shock, in the body, as well as the shaft being twice the width of the GT gas. Here's one ready to go in, fitted with supplied dust cover to protect the upper seal of the shock, a nice touch. Will be back with a comparison on the rears, once I get them in. Fronts are fitted up ready for a test run. Now you can see why Magnum shocks were originally fitted to the Outbacks from new. Sent from my S21 using Tapatalk
  3. Here are the shocks that will suit XG Outbacks and Long reach models. They are Monroe Gas Magnum TDT. Front 16-0101 Rear 160207 As stated earlier, Fronts are just standard XG. 10mm less travel than Outback spec, which I'm assured is fine. Look very similar to original shocks. Rears have longer travel than standard XG at 495mm. These are a heavier duty shock than Monroe GT gas to suit harsher roads the Outback was built for. Front shocks include shaft dust boots. 4. Yes, the shocks in the spare Outback look original Dave. I'm not pulling them out just to put up some pics.... and then I'd have to put them back in. They are plain black. I have already crawled around under her to supply the original shock part numbers off them for this thread. Sorry mate, but I think you forget I have a back injury and am on a disability pension. I really struggle to do anything on the ute. It's going to be a big enough job for me just to fit the new magnums up to Big Red when they get here, I'm only doing that because I can't afford to pay someone else to do it. 5. Every lil bit helps Dave. Wasn't even aware Motorcraft did shocks. I'm not sure on the Country pack option for XF/XG. It might just be h/duty shocks and no change in ride height. Those fronts even at standard height would be fine, but its the rears in the Outback that are 295mm compressed and extended are 495mm. When I pull the GT gas out in a couple of weeks, I will get the part numbers and measure the compressed and extended lengths. Think they will be standard length , not Outback spec knowing the slackers who supplied them. Like the country pack, the Outbacks just needed heavy duty shocks to cope with the rougher roads. 6. Cheers Dave, The valving info for the original T.V.E. shocks is no longer available, have been discontinued for a long time now. Those old original part no's came from the rears on my spares Outback and an original set of fronts I had stashed away from my Red Outback. I have decided I am going to try out the Monroe Gas Magnum TDT's on my Outback. I managed to get a really good price on them at $520 for all 4 corners, delivered. I will put them to the test on the bumpy, lumpy roads out here. Sent from my S21 using Tapatalk

Rod @2redrovers doing some incredible metal finish work has come leaps and bounds since the first post he made.
hopefully you get on top of the money situation soon, any chance the government can assist lately? a few of us were layed off and have applied for $10,000 of our super, i understand if you are on centerlink for 6 months or more you can possibly access it under hardship also.. might make a difference if you have it.

    Xg xr6

el computer wont run in xg without a MAF sensor unless somehow the j3 has changed this. XG's run a MAP sensor. put a multimeter set in ohms on pins 4 and 5 of the ignition module CONNECTOR, not the dizzy side. 1. Is the top one. The resistance should be 0.4-0.5v. If not, replace coil. Also you can place a link between pin 5 of the TFI module and the connector pin 5. With ignition on ON , it should read 0 . If not replace tfi module. Hope that helps.

    outback fuel tank wireing

Cool, see how you go. Think of it this way, it ran fine before, so you just need to fix chewed wiring. Only thing could stop both fuel pumps is the fuel pump relay. You fixed the other two relays in the kick panel, and still have no fuel pumps, so must be that.If petrol guage is switching between tanks ok, will be that.

Hey demmo, those wiring diagrahms you wanted are here on the site. Either in my ute thread or one of the threads I made on it. I cant upload again, my phone wont do it...poxy phone. I think you may of fried the fuel pump relay, that gets the signal from ecu to prime pumps. That would explain the no priming. Hopefully its just that. Remember yours is xh and mine xg, so wiring diagrahms may not help from my manual. On the xg the fuel pump relay is on the drivers side on the body near the brake fluid resi. If the wiring shorted its possible that fried. Hope that helps. Jack.

XF 85 GHIA EFI CROSSY REBUILD

Hehe.... sucks doesnt it. I've done it too mate. Seen as you got the head off you can at least get to it. If it was soft enough.. and you had enough sticking out... could try hitting the edge till it folds in on itself... but you cant lever against a soft alloy head like you can on a cast one. That method is messy and if you miss hit.... not good.... but I have done it on a clevo in desperation. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

XF 85 GHIA EFI CROSSY REBUILD

Lol. Thats a doozy. Soak in wd40 for a day..... Then clean it up and try and 'sleeve' a piece of bar in there. ...one that just fits... not hammer it in... will kill threads.. Then put a layer of arildite on it ... feed it in... let set. Next day put multi grips on bar and hopefully twists out.... But thats a doozy... you snap that or pre snapped for you? Lol Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

To NOS or not to NOS.... that is the question...

Waiting for Friday so it can be like a lil mini Christmas. ..lol. I had a break today but tomorrow I will start looking at ute tank wiring. Can't wait to get the Hydramats in.... That will be cool. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk
  14. Hey guys... After looking at a few options to satisfy my mod bug... Decided to try N2O..... Have purchased these.... Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/192245872217 Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/142306329222 That should be a complete wet 75-125hp NOS 10lb bottle set up and an NX purge valve.... Oh.... and got my NOS kit from rocket ind for $650...not price on a that link. I got last one. I wanted power but when I want it. Nitrous Oxide is the perfect solution. If only triggered at WOT.... and over 2500rpm... with enough high octane 98 juice.....she's apples. Being a 'wet' system means in injects a ratio of fuel and N2O at one point decided by changable jets. Now I went a V8 kit from Rocket Ind. the reason being.... I want to start at 75hp kick and get a safe tune there. I can go to over 125hp shot... but motor would need mods.. The kit I have is made for a 43psi V8 system..... but there is a chart to help work out nitrous to fuel ratios. 250kpa=36psi At 40psi jets are.... Nos... 38 Fuel.....26-28 @ 36 psi would be too rich. So I reduce jetting to suit psi and get Nos.... 36 Fuel.....24 Should be spot on and both jet sizes are the smallest size pairing. Be good for 75hp easy. Then I'll play with it and see where we go from there. 75hp is probably 1/2 what it has any how.... bit less but hey..... more later. I don't need a chip.... advanced timing... bad for NOS.... in fact... may have to drop 2 degrees timing to get it to go great at 75hp and 5 degrees at 100hp shot. So pretty much if I can get this all in and filled... we can have some fun... Im going to trigger the NOS at WOT ( wide open throttle ) via a micro switch and run thru an arming switch in cab.... bottle mounted in the rear somewhere.... few ideas... New to NOS so will be learning as I go...... also got to find somewhere that fills NOS bottles......hahaha. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

To NOS or not to NOS.... that is the question...

Not fuel pumps.... sender/guage problem.... its in wiring. Will fix this week. Oh.... found Dyno tuners/ performance shop ( with 4 wheel dyno).... and they fill NOS bottles..... Stoked. Jack. Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

To NOS or not to NOS.... that is the question...

Yes he has..... mwahahaha!!!!!!!!! There are still heaps of 'bits' to come to do everything. ... and I made a few mistakes.... ordered a couple wrong bits.... I was brain dead after all the searching for bits. The RPM window switched yellow wire is going to be my manually switched wire for my nos safety circuit, when turned on the switched wire can give a ground to fuel and nos solenoids making them active between my set rpm 3000-5500rpm. Then the yellow grounding wire will go through a pressure switch for the fuel rail and the wot micro switch, so its all chained. All conditions are met or no nos.... No nos bad..... Fuel pressure should be ok now with new punps coming. .... lets hope... Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

To NOS or not to NOS.... that is the question...

Does anyone know if aeroflow will do a fitting that pushes onto an in tank hard line and goes to a 5/16 hose barb? Because I think I ordered submersible hose and fittings for it in 5/16 instead of the smaller hardline size..... Grrrrr... Lil help? Please! Don't know much about these fandangled fittings.... Cheers. Jack.

To NOS or not to NOS.... that is the question...

NOS system scored a heater..... Not bloody cheap..... but its no average heater... Its a pressure regulated heater... Not a thermostat blanket. Keeps nos at 950-1050 psi.... Makes for a better use of nos and cleaner burn...... I think I also need a NOS filter for before solenoid and a wideband afr + guage...... geebus..... The more reading I do.... the more it costs me. Tapped now.... have to wait. Information is not power.... its expensive..... hehe. Jack.

To NOS or not to NOS.... that is the question...

Ok... After having a good think about the fuel system. Most of my problems are pick up related... And the in tank pumps [emoji90] me. I can correct the electrical stuff up front but down back is in for a change. .... So now here's new fuel system..... 2 x Aeroflow pumps in billet holder. 2 x 3" x 8" Hydramats + magnets. 1m submersible Efi fuel line. 2 x Non return valves. Going to jack into the fuel pump wiring with external pumps and run them under the tank cover. Leaves it reversable and went two pumps because on a positive lift fuel tank switching system its easier than one. Going to cost me but it's about time I stopped just replacing pumps because they suck air all the time.... Time to get serious. Die [emoji88] die [emoji88]. Die [emoji88]. Fuel gremlins!

Lol. Trust me... Said in haste.. I just drive it on the highway 🛣 and its all forgotten and forgiven. I love the Outback... But when the fuel system goes bonkers..... Grrrrrr..... XG rage.... Oh well... Good excuse to upgrade.... I was looking at external Bosch 044, no pumps in tanks and two 3" x 8" Hydramat fuel pick ups ( magnetically attached) on the bottoms of the tanks, attached to hoses to where the fuel pumps used to attach...using the standard switching system.. Unless that becomes a problem... Then I'll replace that.... Hehe....hehe.... Out back fuel system make Jack go something... something.....

This is how the purge hooks up..... and basically how I will set it up... To purge the air and gaseous n2o out of the line before the nitrous solenoid... meaning the only air in the line is from the nos solenoid to motor. ....... It can also be used to vent nos and look cool like a ricer... but its actually to make the hit of nos stronger and faster. My rough mock up.... Sent from my GT-S7583T using Tapatalk

The first of the parts arrive..... NX Purge System. I think this thread sealant is teflon for fittings.... not the AN ones... they go in dry.... hehe... for naughty gas. Oh... going to seal this up a bit..... think you'll agree... it's a lovely spot for a spot of NOS....
