Chassis Number confusion

Recommended Posts

Hey team! Been a while since I’ve posted...

I’m looking at getting another XF van. This one’s a half finished project with an excellent body and the plan is (if I do pick it up) to make one can out of two.

I’ve run a REVS check and the results are clear but it says it’s a utility- not a van.

I’ve done some research and found that the code (JG42HU***) should be for a van... it looks like a van... is it a van or has someone put a roof on a ute?

Anyone else had any experience with this?

Thanks as always!

The 42 in the chassis number means it was built as a van.

Could the revs be wrong?

I use regos to look cars up for work and quite often they're incorrect, just from one error when the vehicle is initially registered

Thanks mate that’s what I thought...

The compliance plate says it’s a van too... strange!

I actually rang the police to doubly ensure it’s not stolen and they said their checks say it’s a ute too. Not a vehicle of interest though so it’s all good

It’s missing the vehicle ID tag too... not that it’s a drama as the chassis numbers line up on the compliance plate and the shock tower. I spoke to TMR and they said they’re only really interested in the comp. plate and chassis numbers.

Still... got me a bit spooked... but I’m easily spooked.
