Gerry Ahern 366 Posted April 18, 2015 Hi Still preparing xb Fairmont coupe for panel beater. It's going soon. But while waiting I put in a new booster/master cylinder. Of course brake lines were rusted to old one. Saved 2 of the three but one broke. Need a new connector to join brake line back to master cylinder. You know, little fella that screws in and holds flared line in place? Can't find one in the stores. Should be pretty easy I would have thought. Also brake lines have surface rust. Might be okay. Would they need replacing for roadworthy? If so, best advice for people to do it? I'm not keen.
hendrixhc 10,921 Posted April 18, 2015 Im just doing my brake lines at the moment. The nuts are called 3/8 inverted flare nuts or tube nuts. If the lines are rusted get new ones made. they are only about $20 to 440 per tube in stainless. 1 XTREME KARTS XF reacted to this

adrianphu123 73 Posted April 21, 2015 I got mine from rocket in Sydney, any brake place should have them or maybe try a place that does hydraulic work
Gerry Ahern 366 Posted May 5, 2015 For those in Melbourne interested, there is a guy in Werribee who makes new fuel/brake lines cheap and quick. 2 wagoon and bear351c reacted to this
bear351c 10,273 Posted May 6, 2015 Thats what forums are all about.......sharing info and the love of old shit. If they are rusted, I doubt you'll get a roadie, I'd replace them anyway for peace of mind. (When in doubt,........chuck it out!)
