Desktop dynos

Recommended Posts

I found this 302 Cleveland forsale where the owner uses a desktop dyno to estimate the hp.

I found the same programme on comp cams website, I'm sure its not that accurate.

Here is the advert for the clevo

I would be very cautious of the hp level as quoted, I highly doubt it would produce the numbers.

i got 382hp 382ftlbs

using 10:1 comp.

in all honesty, its usually within 5-10% from what i've seen. because it estimates power without running anything but the engine (that means no water pump, no accessories etc) and perfect conditions.

I put my 302 Windsor specs into the same calculator, I found a similar cam, I have alloy heads and 10:1 comp, said 420hp, I'm like nah that's not right.

I'd say no way near that hose power its cam is 268adv, 218@0.050", 494" lift, I'd say 280-290hp

My 302 Clevo has a 280adv, 214@0.050", 510" lift, and would be lucky for 320hp once I get the hi rise manifold on.

which I might stick on an engine dyno while I'm on holidays.
