blu xe 825 Posted September 27, 2013 Hey guys and girls. Looking to polish up the chrome window trims and surrounds on the xe. They have some light scratching that won't come out with out a good sand first. Are they able to be sanded with fine wet and dry and repolished or do they have an anodized coating over them that will turn to shit if sanded. Some look like they have a coating others don't. bear351c 10,273 Posted September 27, 2013 Yeah, reckon you're right. They were Aluminium from memory, so polishing will remove the clear coat. They will polish up nice, but you'll have to coat them with something afterwards. The ones on my FC were half chrome/half black, pain in the arse to refurbish. Needed to mask them up, red oxide, then satin black. Had no reason to polish mine, as I'd had the car for 13 years, and they were still shiny. (just the black, had faded).
