SnoWhite9XE83FG 4 Posted June 29, 2023 Question boys... Doing a full fuild flush...in my bw 40 XE 83 FG... Funny thing on the side of the box I noticed a date stamp 85... Maybe was changed before i got the car 85 to me thinks XF era...maybe bw51... Yet checked the filter set up...and not a bw35...so think bw40...or later ? Have log books... with car...checked information...and states type F...or ****33F...and then or Dex2... My question... same as power steering fluid type F... Don't want to use Dex3 GM Product in my thoughts... Any help with your thoughts greatly appreciated boys... Cheers joe
SPArKy_Dave 8,881 Posted June 29, 2023 I've always used DX3 fluid in my BW40's. Same for XE/XF power steering. DX3 is cheap, and commonly available everywhere. E-series and later BTR 4spds use TQ95, and F424 in the power steering.
Mr Polson 10,214 Posted June 30, 2023 Pretty sure the BW40 was introduced in XE when they switched to the EFI 6 instead of the V8.Use whatever fluid is recommended for the box that it has. Dex3 is not a GM Product, it may have originally been a GM specification but Ford have definitely recommended it too.I personally use Penrite ATF FS in my BW40, seems to shift smoother and stay clean longer. 1 SPArKy_Dave reacted to this
