the mechanic reckons its driving on the TORQUE ALONE,,,That is why i thought the COMPUTER MIGHT be a AUTO ONE..

Just wondered if, when they changed the computer, they got the right one, ONE FOR A MANUAL .....?? I mean it starts, idles, drives...just will not ACCELERATE..

A lot of the wiring, done by the restorers, putting the ENGINE back in was wrong..IE, The negative earth was wired to a positive output, the EEC-1V WIRES TO THE DISSY WAS just about to drop off, wires was S-T-R-E-T-C-H-E-D to fit, had to be re wired properly, the TIMING was RETARDED, 6 DEGREES btdc..The mechanic will let me know if the new AFM i have given him, is the problem on tuesday...

When the mechanic got the car and managed to start it, it was running so rich the whole of the shop was awash in black sooty smoke, all the plugs had to be changed as they were completely black.

Have given the MECHANIC an S-PAC AFM that I had sitting for the last 5 years..so will see how that goes, THEN, might check the INJECTORS, to see if they are operating OK...

WOW, well that was a LONG read,..but a good one, and like i was told by my MECHANIC, whom asked a MECHANIC up the sunshine coast that actually modifies these engines A LONG WAY, only 2 things go WRONG with them, the ECT and the AFM...Wish I could print it out and show the mechanic. Would love to do a self test and see what POPS up...CHEERS and thanks for the INFO.

Apparently that and the AFM, were the only 2 problems that use to go wrong with these cars....as I am told..

Given the AFM to the mechanic, and some of your ideas here. He has already checked the water temp sensor and the thermostat. ALL good. He did think it could be crap in the injectors....but is worried why the car stays the same when the AFM IS UNPLUGGED COMPLETELY OR even with just the wires off..

Well hopefully its the AFM, as i have a spare one..As far as i know all the wiring has been checked, by an auto Elec..

I will pass this on to my mechanic tomorrow after work, I also have an spare AFM...

Personally the only problem I have had with my lifter was actually to do with the Rocker. Some bright spark ground the rocker down. New set of rockers and it was all good.

Guys can anyone tell me if i can fit au injectors straight on to my el ghia ?? cheers.

yup, thats basically what has happened to me, they have to be handled so carefully, and at $8.00 a pop, sorry...

How many people here have used top gun leads and recommend them?. I have used them, but i find they are crap, if you lean on them in the slightest or handle them too roughly, its like you dont get a good connection, i find either NGK or the ford ones are quite good and last longer.

Time to reset everything...lol

Just as bad on the xf as well, using ngk and no probs now at all...

These are 8.0mm and they were shit on the el...

could be the AFM, try another one on...

Run the engine and spray some WRC? over the engine/hoses see if it changes note..if it does you have an air leak..you could also try checking the rocker cover bolts, see if any are loose...sucking in air..

Yup same problem on my el ghia, but at the moment its only happening sometimes...

Ok where can i get one of those pulleys for my EL GHIA.....lol
