I did the boot in my XE and have a full write up in my project thread if you are interested!

You can use K&H Cguard which can be top coated. The solvent based product doesnt need pre-priming but the water based one does.

Speakers and amp combo will be fine.
RMS is the true power of amp output and speaker handling capacity. So long as your amp doesnt exceed your speakers will be ok.
You could possibly have got a larger amp but in the end should be down to clarity at higher volumes. If you over drive speakers the will distort.
The only thing i would say is if you find that you crank your system to the max and it sound distorted you maybe getting clipping from the amp.
Remembder to fiddle round with all the settings on the amp and headunit to "tune" the sound to your liking. This could take weeks until you are satisfied and the speakers are broken in.

Engine levellers are good to use as well. that way you can angle the load on the fly as you need to.

Looking at getting an e series diff to fit into my XE. Just wondering if the calipers off an XE disc brake diff will fit onto an e series diff. Reason being that a diff I'm looking at has no calipers on it. And I have a set of braided brake hoses to suit an xe diff and I know that the e series have metric threads not imperial.
Cheers
Pete
I recon i got a set of e series backing plates and calipers in the shed.

Dean is on the money with the reflectors. They are the same as the base model lights and after market ones can be bought cheaply to repair your ghia lights.
Check the voltage going to each globe with different switch combinations. If you have 12v and no lights then the globe is kaput.
Also check they are earthed properly cause there are a couple of earths at light end of the looms.
This is my light with an aftermarket reflector fitted.

If you decide to pull the motors of the mechs to clean them up, lube or overhaul watch out for that fucking spring. It doesnt look that powerful but the bastard will spin the sector gear round quick smart and take your bloody finger off.

The window assemblies arent that hard to pull out. Three or four of those stupid rivet things to drill out and punch out. Theres a couple of bolts holding tracks etc and you have got it out. Wiring is basically 2 wires to the motor. Voltage Polarity gets reversed depending on up down direction of window.
Once you pull it apart you will see how it all goes! Just rip into it.

ive always liked the idea of cutting along the sides and rear of the standard raise section of the bonnet skin and lifting it up at the rear and grafting in 2 to 3" of steel to form the scoop leaving the rear open.
This way the ribs could be left in tact, keeping it legal, the bonnet would look modified and yet remain semi stock with clearance for a high rise manifold.
This would be a good project for Revhead to attempt and perfect!

Silly question by the uneducated but how do you achieve shorter axles? Cut down and resplined?

If they are multi voltage they will be internally regulated. That means brightness will not be dependant on voltage.
Tru Fit or Knox carpets, opinions?

Hi all
Going to be getting some carpets for the XC and XE on Friday and was wondering if anyone has opinions on either of these 2 suppliers.
I did see a thread on ute carpets and a few opinions suggesting Knox were the go.
Im not fussed on either as it is the same distance for me to travel.
Thanks in advance!
