weber vac hoses where do they go? POST PICS HERE

Thanks Chris, i wonder what that stuff actually does..
  6. ok, seeing google is useless, and every carby i have ever had has been bastardized ... including this one.. where do these hoses go? more importantly for Me is.. what can be blocked off? on a different engine(gemini) i am sure connecting number 1(idle jet and fuel cut) to vac port 2. will make that work. number 4 flows more when the throttle is cracked, guessing this is for the dizzy Vac advance? (i have switched the top cover on this carby because it was better setup to my modded stuff. i'll take pics of the other one later. but it has a vac port above number 2 in this pic below)

weber vac hoses where do they go? POST PICS HERE

Thanks @roKWiz i'll take some more pics today to confirm other stuff. the guy i bought the jets for Mine(into gemini) said he'd use Port 3 for Vac advance (on My photo) but it's clearly connected through that port switch thing to the idle cut i actually wondered if i had tightened it down too much at one point, i'll be test driving mine today and then deciding what to do. i know the rebuild cost will be as much as the cost to dyno tune the other carby they say is better suited(to the gemini, 32/36 weber) so i'll be careful not to over capitalise.

video not working, but the stock engine bay looks better to Me!
  11. there is one available, (or was available) that fit's like it's meant to. i'd assume a power steering MOB would know what one is
  12. is that for the plastic housing pump ? there's another 90degree fitting available for that that can go into a saginaw(XF onwards pump) if someone knows what they are on about.. i've had to bend those pipes at the box end before using a jack handle or other lump of adjusting wood etc.

@CHESTNUTXE check these out https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1979-Ford-Transit-Van/263599454801?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20140106155344%26meid%3D099ed6ac329e41e39fe0a1ab66a3fe72%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D263597826564%26itm%3D263599454801&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1982-Ford-Transit/292517022497?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20140106155344%26meid%3D7ac2b99debac41d19eb73d2ad0992b2c%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D263599454801%26itm%3D292517022497&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 this windowless one is cool, because windowless(and old school hurricane wheels in dumb transit pattern must be either welded and redrilled or custom ordered https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-ford-transit/142753380787?hash=item213cc3b9b3:g:5cAAAOSwve1azXtm

i think the mechanic i dealt with was only looking for electronic ignition, pollution spec carb(would have been happy with a quadrajet off a commodore V8) but i had a thermoquad still, and egr fitted.. as soon as it was registered a holley and egr block happened anyway, so it makes me wonder what the difference was at the tailpipe from that?

Having some bother with the FD

tried giving starter some love taps with a small hammer? (or jack handle etc ) if that fixes it, i'd be looking for another starter motor

Having some bother with the FD

XF one may be same, i can't remember if the plugs changed. anything pre XF is hard to find, even XFs are getting rarer in wreckers. @SLO247 may have one to sell you even

Having some bother with the FD

nah, it's this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-FALCON-XC-GS-GXL-COBRA-GENUINE-IGNITION-SWITCH/222907394377?hash=item33e650e949:g:I2wAAOSwihpawaXW can see where it's connected on this ad for an e series one(you can see in this one, it's pinned not screwed in on e series and XG) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-FALCON-EB-ED-EF-EL-XH-AU-IGNITION-BARREL-KEY-SWITCH-2/123040152911?hash=item1ca5c3bd4f:g:CSAAAOSwAtlat3NS

Having some bother with the FD

the ign switch on pre XG just has 2 grub screws holding it to the back of the ignition barrel, so you remove those steering column covers (i can't remember where the screws are off hand), undo 2 small grub screws a few turns, switch will come out and unplug under the dash.. installation is the reverse of this process.. where to get another these days? not sure.
  21. just beware if you undo the top cover grub screw(allen key) theres like a 80% chance that thread will strip.. (fairly sure this is the "fine adjustment" ) and the other adjuster is inside the wheel well. i've only done the fine one. if you decide to do that, i'd suggest removing the cover, removing the o ring, heating it with a blow torch or heat gun etc and possibly spraying cold spray on the grub screw then removing the grub screw.. then reassemble and adjust.. it could be the case that the top cover is worn and this is not going to fix the issue, there are some with bearings fitted, some relying on just the alloy.. so you may need a top cover anyway. i wouldn't mess with it without spares or taking precautions cant find it on ebay anymore, found a thread that mentions something on it.. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQFpi_YzF8I0-vqtjVlZGrjfIRWmVmp2lbf-P3W1GPDOPnP6Way

i did it with Mine, and BGDAV's is also a 1984, no engineers required in Vic going back over 5 yrs.. just needed a mechanical report saying all V8 components were used in conversion. (aka , springs and brakes) no idea on the current rules, but i'd be guessing it would be simple with engineers if you needed one(should also be simple for XF really)

    XF EFI Fuel problem?

how cold does the engine run? if it has no thermostat, a stuck open thermostat or locked up clutch fan it might be running rich for that reason?

Shane's SAS01 , last i saw that it was getting a show quality rebuild.. that was over 5yrs ago at a guess, wouldn't know how to find out on it's progress unless it shows in his photobucket acc? http://www.xfalcon.com/forums/index.php?/topic/6479-xderminator-sas01/page-47 http://s410.photobucket.com/user/SAS01/story

you'll have to get an app for your browser to see the photobucket pics, google photobucket fix addon for whatever you use(chrome or firefox etc) His wife got sick at some point and the project stalled but it was pretty much finished, just not to a high standard he wanted.. i haven't checked on it or him in ages, but here's the thread on xfalcon.. there is a heap of photos of how he did it. http://www.xfalcon.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25812-ba-au-upgraded-xe-the-boss/
