Would a 5 post from an Xf fit an Au

i'd bet it wont be anywhere near the right shape, but you could easily ring a bull bar mob to confirm

    New headunit

Mark was whinging someone cut the wires on His XH because there's a harness available that plugs in to the ford wiring for most stereos. i haven't taken any notice of the XH mounting, i assume you'd need to remove the ashtray housing and then access the screws

    New headunit

glue the face back on, and enjoy. who'd steal an old deck these days? that current deck is what's in My van at the moment, got the model number? ah, just remembered how i mounted it, too hard to remove. the JVC i have in My gemini wagon now came with the XG bought and it was too damn confusing, so took it out.. when i finally googled and found on youtube how to use it, i like it better. but.. i'll have to youtube how to use it again because it's been a month since i last used it. that said, the pioneer did back to the demo mode due to almost flat battery and i had to youtube that also (SO DAMN ANNOYING, demo mode needs a SWITCH) the JVC has multiple colours of backlight and display text )

    Bonnet hinge threads

no star washer. they look like an XD to XH? bonnet bolt .. don't recall seeing them anywhere else

    Bonnet hinge threads

the heads on the bolts are very specific, even i'd notice(if i looked)

    Bonnet hinge threads

i drilled a hole next to the bolt hole on My XE ute back in the day and tek screwed it .. was 2yrs fine, with a different bolt UGGA DUGGA'D in the stripped thread because back in those days, i didn't have a tap set(i still don't but i know who does now)

    Bonnet hinge threads

BGDAV stripped one, i think by putting the wrong bolt in(they seem to be an odd thread) we just tapped it out to a bigger metric thread(no one would notice it, because who'd look at bonnet bolts sparkydave) but if you were dead set on the factory bolt like sparky dave, you could probably buy or borrow a helicoil kit for it think it's a BLOCK of steel with 2 threads tapped in it are you crazy?

    front end

all kings are yellow(unless ordered black) are they Super low, Low, Standard or raised.. i would expect with issues, it must be super lows(super super low are also possible) no idea how many coils, there is a part number if you can read it usually on the springs

    front end

too low.. no suspension travel.. fit higher springs. what springs are they? cut ones belong in the bin. super low are too low for a daily driver in My opinion. need really good shocks for lowered springs

    XF T5 Question

did the WC box have syncro on reverse and the others not.. if this is the case, the 2 pre EB ones i broke didn't have syncro on reverse.

    XF T5 Question

not from what i read, the 2 i blew up were pre EB and the one that survived was later and copped a hiding.. no idea on kms though prior to me owning them

    XF T5 Question

depending what year your EB box is, it may be the same as it. the later EB through to EL were world class boxes and all bolt straight in. EB series 1 and prior had a weaker input shaft bearing.. i killed a couple behind crossflow 6s. were probably half wornout already though.

    XF T5 Question

where is it? for $100 it's definitely cheap
  14. deankxf

    XF T5 Question

the box is almost same, i think the later EB had the world class T5 with better bearings My brother ran one in his EB for years. if it's in good nick it will be fine if not thrashed , might need to do something with the gearbox mount, not 100% sure if they are a direct fit, but should be simple to fix as My brother isnt the best engineer as Chestnut said, the bell housings are rare, always were, same for the cross member.

    SINGLE RAIL GEARBOX INFO

i had a cortina single rail behind My 351 built up, it was also suiting the 2.92 gears very well. i'd hazard a guess a taller diff ratio would have been MAGNIFICENT with the 4 speed

    Chatter noise issue

    paranoid?
  17. deankxf

    Chatter noise issue

check the noise out on mine at 1.18. (naturally it was much worse at bigger revs) was alternator bolt missing
  18. deankxf

    Chatter noise issue

My gemini has made some horrible noises from oddball things. one was loose alternator making a knocking noise and vibration.. the most recent(now you've reminded me) is air cleaner lid has a cracked weld (that i did) that has it vibrating at about 3000 ish rpm falcons over the years have had the heat sheild do similar over the exhaust flange, clutch cable spring missing making the fork rattle and BELTS.. try tipping some water over the fan belt, see if it goes away
  19. is it lowered? if it has no suspension travel it wont handle.

    Marantz SA250 Graphic eq

yeah that is cool! i remember going to JB Hi Fi back in about 1991 and adding an EQ with RCA outs to some older deck in My XE panelvan, had four 6" phillips paper cone speakers and i still reckon that was one of the best sounding stereos i've had other than the 1992 lexus LS400
  21. My google kung Fu is pretty strong if i have My laptop, the phone is useless(not sure what the difference should be) i haven't worked on an XH,yet

    250 Carby Turbo

My rule of.. if it works, don't touch it comes to mind.. learn more about it before changing it for possibly worse outcomes? sounds interesting, i almost bought a 1985 XF ghia carby car because i didn't like EFI, these days i'd probably go LPG or efi .. carbys can be a pain in the ass. seems not that many people will work on it also
  23. googled.. hidden screws?(old fordmods archived post... assume that site is gone now?) The dash is a peice o piss to get out of the xh, first remove the grey screw covers at the top of the cluster and remove the screws under them, you may need a right angled screw driver or something, next remove the two screws under the dash (just under the demister switch) one on the right is in the exact same place. Then you have to remove the fuse panel cover, thats just the 4 big black plastic screw type things, then there is two more screwsunder the dash, then remove the facia! then just take out the 4 screws holding the instrument cluster in disconnect the wiring harness and presto!
  24. if its like XFs and XGs? there's 2 under the fuse/hand brake cover one roughly above the ign barrel i never put back in, and one on the left side of the column i also never put back in. .. this could be where they are. i'd be guessing though, @Thom is the only one that May know, Mark seems to not have notifications set anymore for tagging.

    Distilled and Demineralised Water

Dad was questioning why he ran the drain out and bypassed the guttering, because there was a water tank for the garden off the guttering. that's how the topic came about.
