rings a bell, pretty sure i've seen that also. not sure why. but i'd check the earths and connections just in case on the battery to earth, battery to starter and charging wire. that charging wire i've had DIE or DEAD on arrival(bought cars that didn't charge) a few times.. a couple of cars i'd bought had additional wires fitted from alt to battery. so consider changing that charge wire.. just to be sure. (i never cut one open to see if it was broken, just accepted it must be stuffed.. bolt another on)

i've seen 35s in shorter length in XY .. not sure about later models, only seen it once where a 40 or even 51 didn't take the same tailshaft length as 35.. (for all i know, it could have been from a sigma or something?) My brother dropped an XF 4.1 and bw 40 into his TE cortina i don't recall any difference.. (could be wrong, was 20yrs ago?)

BGDAV's 351 had twin EF thermos and has 302 heads and is 60thou up.. didn't have issues on hot days. more likely to be water flow issues, My 351 had a flex fan on the engine and a 2 core XF radiator back in the day, coped until i got stuck in traffic on 40deg day with air con on.. needed a tripple core radiator ideally.

XR-XF Falcon Coil Over Conversion kit
deankxf replied to judgetread's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
if the coil overs themselves are Viking? that's what slydog and @BGDAV have i think. the control arm kit looks good, as the Global west arms are dear with exchange rate from usa plus tax -
that's my photo from many years ago.. taken with a real camera(no phone built in)
-
that's SNAPPY! love it! i saw it on your facebook feed and you had a headphone warning up.. i read that as..don't watch it on the phone, get the headphones!
-
that looks a bit less complex. and easier to work on by the looks also. been watching too much project binky perhaps?
-
you might be better off asking crow directly? i asked them about something a while back, they replied next day link to the cam here for people like @gerg @Thom perhaps https://www.crowcams.com.au/FindaProduct/tabid/92/ProdID/15400/21649__FORD_CLEV_CAM.aspx
-
would depend on cam choice. i don't have a figure for you based on cams, but i know its' the most relevant relationship to compression ratio

suspension city North Melbourne http://www.suspensioncity.com.au/ been going there for 25yrs, they did the full nolathane/poly bushes in my XE supplied and fitted cheaper than i could get the bushes for as parts alone. they specialise in resetting leaf springs.
-
i had EL GT wheels on My XG.. looked quite good. can't find a pic though they are 17x8? fit fine.
-
probably isn't one.. i haven't seen anyone keep the factory ecu etc if they did. otherwise you'd be going back in time so far you might need to search on xfalcon.com that site is still going, but not much happens there anymore. if you aren't doing head work, then a cam and valve springs and raising the compression would be the MILD? build.. (with extractors and 2.5" exhaust)

even has radio preset buttons woo! let us know how it is to use, looks simple but i've had one dial ones that were painful still https://www.pioneer.com.au/shop/car/deh-x7850bt/
-
yeah please report any findings. be surprised if it's not better
-
ah yep, i hadn't used it as a coin tray since My car was broken into in the city about 25yrs ago.. had about 2.75 in silver in it for parking meters..

i think you'll be glad you did, when i first asked the gearbox mob who did mine what oil to use, i was a bit shocked to hear engine oil also
-
My gemini when i got it had gear oil in it, it's synchro on 2nd felt non existent.. replaced it with 25/50 engine oil(gemini service manual says SAE30.) and it's almost perfect.
-
i'd definitely try a lighter oil like that. could ask the guy who built the gearbox.
-
i would have used 25/50 valvoline engine oil, normal non synthetic, i did 80,000kms on it before the clutch went.. and i converted to auto
-
did they have a coin thingy in the ghia console? looks like where electric seat switches would be on an LTD
-
what oil is in it.. one of the service manuals suggested ATF but after mine was reco'd the builder said to use engine oil, 30weight from memory gear oil is way too heavy

if there's no vacuum, they go to screen as a default. first place to check is if the hose is connected to the manifold(on XFs it's a black plastic hose, and green one goes to heater tap) if that's fitted.. then you need to look elsewhere. for Me, the first place i'd look(from experience) is behind the glove box at the multi vac hose plug, see if they are all connected(had the black engine bay one fall out once, glued it back in without getting glue in the hose) can take a look at the hose on the vac motor inside the car at the lower firewall left of the foot rest.. if that is off, screen only. i have seen cracked vent control thing in the center of dash twice now.. getting old. last place i'd look before pulling the dash out.

does that boot channel ONLY spot weld in? normally
-
perfect! good explanation. couldn't get My head around it first up this morning that's for sure.
