  1. No, you're right. Not much info around for these old, heavy slushboxes. Pretty sure it's on the passenger side, up high, when laying on the floor. Of course, anything 50 years old may have had work done, linkages changed, etc... I;ll see if I can find a photo of mine before I stuck it in the Nugget, but, it had been overhauled years before and was in good nick, so didn't give it much attention. Stick chirps the wheels in shifting into second, Love it.!!

  2. Agreed. Don't need an expensive cam plate. The cam moves forward slightly with resistance from the dizzy gear etc...But it's not a high load area. I've never bought a new plate, ever. Still got the 45 year old one in my XB, and that gets a good hammering every now and then.

Just make sure its nice and flat, no grooves in it, etc. DON'T over tighten the bolts, nice and firm with some blue never come off juice.!

  3. As far as I know, the 164 is larger diameter flexplate. If you fit the 157 tooth the starter wont touch it...

Not 100% on that, Reckon I got a 164 on my FMX/351c.  Imagine the bellhousing may be a different size to accomodate the larger flexplate...... ?  🤔

  4. Reckon the top hose on the water pump goes straight to the firewall, then out to the heater tap, then to the lower brass take off spigot thingy. Yeah, and through a double clamp that hangs off the shock tower bolt.

Pretty sure VL 5.0 litre heater hose is the easiest to use, its about a metre long with a 90* bend on the end, so you don't end up kinking the hose. cant remember the number...... it's 3 am.

  5. If you haven't bought performance gear for the valve train, don't rev it past 5,000. You'll regret it.

Exhaust valves with pop the heads off, and you'll bend pushrods.  Clevos were a truck engine, meant for torque, not horsepower.
