    425 Impco on a crossflow

Without a east west plate would help a lot (12mm) & new aussiespeed manifold is setup for east west or north south no adaptor needed. Yeah didn't think of a drop base, But you do have the Gas vapor hose. Just measured from bottom to top of Holley base plate & impco is 158mm, so if 9x3 with flipped base & dome top overall 167mm (plus filter stud & nut, or bolt), & as per pic of my XF from rear of manifold flange to top of air cleaner is 174mm

    425 Impco on a crossflow

"should" fit under the bonnet if you cut out a bit of bonnet brace or skinny 6" filter, (but will choke it) my XF has aussie speed, east west plate (12mm), QFT 600 & 9x2" plus filter top filter (is about 3" in total height), & proflow nut did rub bonnet (can see in pic), now just a 5/16"nut. I hammered the bonnet brace to start with but rubbed when changed to filter top so I cut out a section, will copy & weld in some plate when I get a good bonnet for it the main problem is the top section of the impco 425 mixer, & needs close to 3" filter to clear it 9"x3"filter with base upside down & dome top has 8.65mm clearance above impco top 9x3" filter, base normal & flat top 8.17mm, 6x2 filter with base, from top if filter to impco was 5.5mm (see pic), I couldn't find my 6" lid or 6x3" filter.

    Stock EFi camshaft

Tighe Cams std cam (guessing carby) is adv 256°/258° 188°/190°@50 .406"/.411". as per ford manual carby 258°/258° EFi 272°/272°. Camtech also have a 259° 197°@50 435" Daves numbers sound a bit big for @50, I'd say crow specs would be close enough, or just finish off the new engine & get one tune done , Likes of Clive cams & Crow cams have a cam profilers & can computer measure a cam, if you have a spare EFi cam or if needed.

    Distributor replacement question

OHC is known for chewing gears from the distributor or aux shaft after changing distributors, bosch made a revised slight bronzed gear to help this. Best is to fit original gear to new dissy, I modified a EL dissy to fit xflow, removed the std gear & fitted a Crow DG2 xflow dissy gear & drilled the shaft to suit for the roll pin, It ended up with it not fitting at time of assembly, was sitting about 5mm above block & went with EST, then when changing from EST to XF mag dissy, I realized I had forgot about aligning the oil pump drive when i was fitting the EL dissy. Can also delete the TFi module & change to EST plugs for easier wiring with MSD. I might put the EL dissy in my xflow on the stand to make sure 2moro. EL vs XF dimensions ED VS new modded EL VS XF

    crossflow balancer

Looking up power bond balancer PB1021ST (XF) & PB1432ST (EF) crank bore both 31.71mm Nose diamiter (seal ID) 44.45mm(XF) 44.43mm(EF) OD 174.5/172.5mm width 64.8mm/74mm as far as I know size is same for prexflow 250 as xflow,

    3:45 VS 4:11

A shop thats good with diffs will be able to change to 4.11 gears easily enough, I have a XG/XH LSD that was built as XY drum brake with 4.11 gears was told was built by Geelong diff services. That said a hi stall convertor would possibly be a good idea, when you take off will flash up to xxxxrpm & help with take off, stock would be like 1800-2000rpm

New Motor for Rods Mad Maxy Ute

@DeanKDX SLY250 runs a modified XH crank, for new I'd look up Quickfuel 450 slayer vac sec, similar to holley but has more tuneable features like changeable air bleeds & rear jets, I have a Slayer 600 (VSF) on mine, 250 xflow has air flow requirement of 460ish cfm at 5500rpm, crank gear at 0° if not dialing in, surprised at the mains bolt breaking, Engine looks alright, good luck with the build.

    3.3 running issues

Maybe try changing the capacitor/condensor (next to the coil) have read similar symptoms before & think that it was capacitor, Bros XB ute had a similar issue ran great cold but randomly when warm would just die sometimes after 5 minutes sometimes made it 20-35 minutes, never found the problem. then later read of someone with same type issue & I think they found it was the capacitor. >>>From memory.

    Valve spring tool

I copied what I saw on Ford Forums, made a valve spring compressor from a old standard rocker, cut out the contact center where is pushes the valve down, & bent out the sides a bit. then welded a pipe to the side of it could always weld the pipe on so it goes vertically for if in car, which I might end up doing to the other end of the pipe on mine. OR weld a old socket to it & use a breaker bar. Also made a air fitting from a old spark plug, to hook up to the air compressor to pressurize the chamber & keep the valves closed.

    351 compression

    I found Sealed Power 400M dished piston, part no. 427NP 30, By Summit say Dish is 3"x0.145" = 16.78cc + valve relief =18-19cc 4.030" bore, 4.000" stroke, 57cc head, 18 cc piston, 4.100"x0.041" gasket, 0.060" deck = 9.67:1 https://uempistons.com/p-27-compression-ratio-calculator.html

    302 Cleveland to 351 convertion

Hypertec make a dished (12cc?) piston to suit 351 crank & 351 rod with closed chamber heads($438.61), or can open up the chamber a bit with burr & use flat top piston, https://www.precisionintl.com/StockSearch.aspx?Search=PFO351C81H Hypertec also make shorter piston suit 351 crank & 302C rod, flat top $438.61 https://www.precisionintl.com/StockSearch.aspx?Search=PFO351C683H zero decked 351 with flat top & closed chamber heads are easy 11.3:1 or standard deck around 10.3:1, zero deck 351 with dished 10.1:1 also known for the locks to pull through standard retainers over 5500, best to upgrade valve springs, retainers & locks, & is needed for larger then 0.500" lift cam

    Blow through carb

Yeah as they say in the Video 5.0 is known for splitting in half over 500hp, probably because its always broken its lasted, They recently finally upgraded the diff after braking it for the 4/5th time.

    250 Crossflow build

stock valve springs, retainers/locks & push rods are best to upgrade, don't handle higher rpm well or any decent cam, Member n00bus m@x1mus has a XF ute or ZL xflow running off E series log & EL ECU from memory. I think there's a build thread in SM Carnage with the AU turbo, they where saying if 6cyl engine can run a 36-1 crank angle sensor & wheel, can adapt a Barra ECU to run it, could then workout some coil packs for ignition, No MSD needed & ECU will run both. check out there video for more info also check out SLYDOG SLY250 build, runs a megasquirt MS3 ecu with coil packs, If for lower power a GT3576 from a FG turbo or GT3582 from BA/BF should be a about right, (used may need reco) all these turbo cars, keeps me think about playing with boost, Hmmm

    Replacement head for iron crossy

I thought the D head was similar to the C2/C2A head around the 43cc mark, A stock C1A I measured around 47cc My CNC C2 with sharp part of the chamber rounded off & EVL valves (have a dished face) was measured at 49cc, Ported & shaved XD head I brought off Sean/Clevo120Y is 50cc, Off memory Standard XD/XE/E1 55-57cc, E2 50-52, C1/C1A 48-50cc C2/C2A&D 42-44cc, there's a old thread on here that has chamber CC's listed. Kustom Bitz has a free dyno program I've been playing around with for ages, Runs in Excel. http://kustombitz.com/g/9081/fun-free-stuff.html There was a thread on here(or XFal) years ago about it. Put in Engine Ci & comp, Cam @50, lift & rpm range.

The T Meyer pistons are Keith Black/KB "Claimer" pistons. 1.710" pin height, 0.975" pin, 13.3cc. TMEYER catalog lists them as TMI/KB2347 searching KB site found silv-o-lite 3327H is a Ford (AUS) 250/4.1 flat top 1.530"pin height, 3328H is dished 8CC google search also came up with another KB piston that apparently suits is KB2334 flat top, 1.720" pin height, also found flat top forged 4032 pistons, 1.700" $578US, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-400-400M-MODIFIED-FORGED-FLAT-TOP-HIGH-COMPRESSION-PISTONS-/253088573838

I looked up the 400M last night after reading this, deck clearance 0.067", later smog engines got 15cc dished piston & Cam retarded 6°, some of the heads up to 79cc chamber, Watching the latest Engine Masters, mopar did similar things with the motorhome 440's they're pistons like are 0.100" down the bore. Found a few articles from Richard Holdener of motortread group, around 2009/2010 did a few 400M build ups, stock reco & with 4 barrel, Ford 400M Engine Rebuild - Hot Rod Network with Procomp heads Pro Comp Head Test - Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords also seen a stoker build with offset ground crank, 6.3 chev rod & 340 mopar piston,

    WINDSOR SMALLBLOCK TALK

There is a local factory Boss 302 is a street/circuit car has drag raced it a few times, Have thought a few times of getting my bros spare 5.0lt, basic reco with 230°ish cam, some Aeroflow alloy heads or AFD alloys, air gap or victor jr & maybe some nitrous... another idea was Aussie Speed Boss 302 hi rise to suit 2V Cleveland heads, & SRP BOSS 302 piston to suit Aussie 2v heads (302C closed chamber) 3.5cc dome, As for porting I brought a Makita 240V 1/4" die grinder (GD0600) & a long shank burr, heaps nicer then waiting on the compressor to try & keep up with my bluepoint die grinder.

    crossflow roller rockers

Just a rocker cover spacer or cut & raise the low section of the EFi rocker cover from what I know, Yella terra "street terra" bolt on/pedestal mount are a easy fit, ST2034 from memory, O & your EFi won't like a cam that size, heck they run ruff if you pull the dip stick out, around 206-208° is about biggest XF computer will happily run from what I've read.

    crossflow balancer

knowing soft xflow pushrods, you'll want at least hardened ones, timing gears & chain is common upgrade, single row chain isn't the best & stretch, my XF ute's was worn out & had only done 182,000km @CHESTNUTXE Yes Romac 0222(XF) 0217(XE),
