Can 5.0L injection (of eb/ed/ef/el/au) be fitted to any 302?
SLO247 replied to mcfly94's topic in Windsor
Nicely done. I'm in SA too. What did you have to do to rego it as an 8? Did they care that it was a windsor and whether it was injected? I know this is old but I want to correct XPTCrossy. All AU V8s were GT40P headed with explorer manifolds. None of the E7/HO stuff. Still had shit exhaust manifolds though aside from XR8. -
I can't help but that XE looks awesome.
-
Edit. Didn't read it properly.
-
Dave, you mean rego it with all the numbers matching then change it later right? Or did I miss some sarcasm.
-
Well thats easy. I've already changed the springs and shocks. I was given a set of mount plates years ago too. Thanks Dave.
-
Higher rate fronts? Have you done this Dave?

So the engine swap form includes an option for going from 6 to 8? I can rego it as is no worries. I think I have the old papers. The engine has been swapped but it was regoed. What was different on a ZK from 6 to 8 in regards to suspension and brakes? It already has discs at the rear. Sounds like more effort than its worth. Still have to build a tough motor anyway, not like a standard clevo is fast. Maybe a tough 6 is the go. Never had one!

This is slightly off topic; My ZK is an 82 build. They were available with the Cleveland. Its a carby 250. What is the process for changing the rego details in SA if I fit a Clevo? I'm aware of the age of engine vs age of car rule, but will they actually know from the engine number? Just inspection for engine number change or more involved? I wouldn't bother if it will need original carby/manifold/air cleaner/emissions etc. On a similar note would I have any luck passing a roller windsor with a carby on it?

Yeah from memory. Screws are in the bottom of the column shroud facing up. Be gentle with it.

efi 302w, anyone got a part number for a shorter non-a/c serpentine belt?
SLO247 replied to RAWDEAL's topic in Windsor
Shorter belt will work on a 5L. Cut the belt, wrap it around how you want to run it and measure how much you need. -
Stock oil pump is the go from what I have read or you will have problems. I'm sure it'll be explained soon by someone who knows more than me.\ We need pics of this ZK too.

Thanks for that. Maybe I need not go to the trouble of getting AFL1MCs. Still have a few though. Whats the go with the Z9HE?

Dodgy switch/connection or wiring somewhere. Sorry I can't help more. I know why you asked about the stalk now, thats possible too. I'd try swapping them first.
-
You can with some. Apparently the AU Base and backrests bolts up to the EF/EL Rail/frame pretty well. Anything will fit with a bit of mucking around anyway, but EA-ED should just bolt straight in if you have the floorpan.
-
That would tie in well! Just look at the floor in yours. Bolts through floor is XF, Bolts into floor is EA.
-
Sometime in 88 XF switched to EA-D seat fitment, XH is EF/L Fitment. Not a straight bolt in but if yours is a late ute it shouldn't be too far off. I'd be finding some EB/ED XR seats. EB1 seats with the dark trim would be a good match in an XF too.

Nicely done.

Late XGs had the moulded fabric one. If you are lucky you could find one, even if you have to get it re done.

V8 and I6 T5s have different input shafts. An E Series T5 at least should be fine with a 302. People run them with much more power. Be gentle on it and it will last years. 3rd gear is the weak spot.

Try the duplicolour heat paint. Normally they all go shit after the first start, this one stayed perfect so far on my extractors. Like I said I did no prep either.

I used VHT satin black on a Windsor. It was cleaned and put plenty of coats on. It was ruined after the owner had a heater hose let go and was covered in muck, it was stained. Its porous and just crap. The gloss may be better. It certainly looks like the killrust is many times better. Cheap as hell too. I used the VHT stuff on the extractors and it was a dull washed out finish too. Currently have done my XF in Duplicolour silver and its fantastic. Didn't even clean it first, went on great and its tough and a very nice finish. Looks like the killrust is the go for sure however. The blue there looks similar to the Ford blue on the Clevelands to me and the red looks great too.

My bad, got confused with BA. Weird how everyone thinks early AUs are so different. The differences are mostly cosmetic. Like Noobus says though it will fit.

All sedan XR8, XR6 VCT and Ghia/LTD IRS. Is it an LSD? They were an option even on the XR6.
-
AU XR8s all had IRS just so you know.

Hes asking for colours. Can you get it matched off the caps?
